  • So a party of level 70 can beat him...

Thanks Fal, and keep up the good work.

I'll only start CoP missions once I've beaten Maat... So far I'm 0-1 on him... lol...

To Nixles: Hi Nixles. A party of level 70 can beat him very easily. Heck, even a party of 65 can do it. As you know Zilart came out before level 75 was even introduced. Good luck with that.

Hmm... If you have an opportunity to go on Promathia missions, I would suggest you do so. Getting competent people to do Promyvion is somewhat difficult unless you have skilled friends or a skilled LS. Maat with WHM is pretty straightforward, but you won't be fighting Maat all the time (in the event that you lose). As for losing, don't sweat it. Losing once, twice, even three times shouldn't bring you down. I've known people who lost to Maat 12, even 14 times! My friend promptly decided to level Thief to 66 to try to do that Genkai 5 instead of with his Dark Knight. His Dark Knight is already 70, but he gave up after losing 3 times. As disappointed as I am with him, it is his decision. I hope you won't give up so easily. Good luck!

        • The only one I haven't seen yet is a Taru Fomor
^^ Fal you have a picture with a Taru Formor in it.

And still great pictures! I can't wait to do these missions. lol Still stuck in Promyvion lol. My LS went to do dem then holla, but every receptacle we defeated in Dem was a fake. After the 5th time we decide to leave, plus some people were getting cranky^^.

I'm sorry to hear that about Promyvion. It really seems to be random, as when I was there, we never noticed a pattern on which Receptacle held the portal. Better luck to you next time. Hopefully everything went smoothly besides the fake Receptacles. Good luck friend! ^^

            • Odd all the other races are labeled as Fomor, but the taru is labled as Formor.

I would ask if he was tougher than the other ones, but you didn't even remember seeing him so you prolly don't know lol.

Once again Fal great pics keep em comin'! <(^-^)>

              • Woohoo, Sha'ir stuff! Thanks, Fal! *sends Ulmia, AA EV, and AA MR to go glomp Fal*

Then I can expect the prices to go down a bit as crafters compete with each other, than up as people sell the ingredients for a fortune ... I hate figuring out economics. But I should probably buy the items whenever I deem them affordable ... worst that'll happen is the price will go down further.

And when all else fails, I can always knuckle down and make money. I do have a hundred beastman's seals and nearly as many kindred's seals saved up after all. That should be good for a few hundred K at least, though I'll probably try to put the beastman's seals towards mannequin-part BCNMs.

I should really start levelling a craft too. Considering that they can all make money well at extremely high skill (well, not cooking so much, but it's also much cheaper), I'm not really concerned with the "best money maker" ... more with what sorts of items are bloody impossible to find listed on the AH, to the point where you'd have to find a crafter and have them make it directly. Like most cursed gear for example.

An HNM LS would be one of the better ways of funding raising a craft, but you already know my issues with those, so I'll have to figure out a different source of income.

                In response to other posts:
                - Pot from ZM12 is super easy. Just bring along some Stun for if it casts a nasty spell, and otherwise just melee and renkei it to death. Quite painless. Party of your 70-ish peers can handle it easily.

                - Yve'noile first appears in ZM13, when you click on the shimmering circle to teleport up to Tu'Lia for the first time. You see the Dawnmaidens (who are similar looking, but not quite the same ... and I was never clear on whether she was herself one of them or not) in flashbacks in ZM4 and in a more extended conversation in ZM7.

                - Chance of receptacles being duds is purely random chance. It's not that there are three on the floor and one of them is real ... it's that there are three on the floor and any of them can be real, but there are only certain odds. (The one on the first floor is always real, as far as I know.)

To go through Promyvion you'll need to go through a total of 9 real ones (3 per area). Not counting any backtracking you have to do. You can be extremely unlucky like you were ... but it's just as possible to be extremely lucky. We were 9 for 11 when I went, only two duds the whole time. Try again, and hopefully you'll be luckier.

EDIT: Oh yeah, almost forgot... you're on a new page now. ^^

                • It has come to my attention that Somepage also has these recipes. I apologize for the "double information". I do not go to Somepage, so I didn't know they were there. I regularly visit a Japanese Recipe Database as well as a few other Japanese FFXI dedicated websites to get all my information (as they are usually the ones to discover it first). My apologies for redundant information. I assume that Somepage posted them around the same time I did because there was no mention of it before on any forum? Oh well, sorries again. At least the information is now out there, which is the good thing for us all. Happy farming/crafting!

To Aonir: They fixed the names in the patch. I noticed that too when I first fought them. That's why I thought they were NPCs, because I read the "Formor" as "Former". I thought they were people who abandoned society. Too bad they tried to beat me up. They are all the same though.

To Vilurum: NP Vil. Good luck getting the items. Last I checked, the Sha'ir Gages were 300K on the AH. That's a damn good price for such a fine piece of armor.

Prices will fluctuate, but I think the prices for some of the rarer ingredients will skyrocket. My example was the Dragon Talon. The Dragon Talon, if you don't recall, was about 40K on our server and is the *rare* ingredient for the Igqira Weskit (BLM armor). The talon now sits at 700K (once hit 1 million due to lack of supply). The Igqira weskit, on its first debut, was 1 million on Quetz, rising to 1.2 million when people first started seeing it. It fell to 700K (lowest) but is steady now at 800K. I told myself that I would not buy it unless it hit 600K, but since it hit 700K a few weeks ago, it seems I'll have to dish out 750K for it.

I notice that the Hippogryph Feather is in 2 of the Sha'ir Recipes. These are rare drops from the Hippogryphs. As far as I know, they are only found in Riverne Site A01 and B01. Someone from another server told me these were selling for 400K at the AH. Since the IGE bastards don't care about missions, I hope to go farm these to make a little profit before they start flooding that area. Since they are everywhere up in Riverne, there shouldn't be much competition like there is for NMs & such. I do worry though about the gilfarmers going up there to farm. The Hippogryphs are key to one of the BCNMs up there... If the IGE bastards go up there to farm just for the feathers, it will be impossible to do one of the BCNMs because the EX item only drops from the Hippogryphs.

I think right now... Crafting is the only way to make *real* money steadily (besides BCNMs). The problem is that the IGE guys (as well as other gilfarming companies) are practically everywhere no matter where you go. Davoi, Beaudeux, Ordelle's Cave, Kuftal Tunnel, Oztroja, Zitah, etc.. I have no problems of making money (it is slow, but I make profit from my crafts). However, I notice those that have no craft capabilities rely only on farming. Well it is much harder for them to farm now and I feel for them. Sometimes it even causes our crafting ingredients to jump in price and we crafters find it no longer reasonable to make a certain item for profit on.

Yup... I'm on a new page I'm working on it...

                            • Hmmm ... the song goes differently ... I wonder if the Zilart had changed it to make the version we knew before?

Isn't Riverne a level-capped area? If so, how do the hippogryphs there con? Hopefully they're strong, because I can't really picture IGE gil-farmers "farming" strong enemies. Their reputation for incompetence in parties is not born out of nothing.

Besides, can you really picture them even making it through the missions up to that point? If they don't even bother with genkais, I seriously doubt they'll bother with these. I may be arrogantly overconfident but I don't think there's too much of a risk, thankfully.

In the meantime ... I need to check prices.
