Hey amazing shots as usual Faluzure.

Is it just me or does those orbs or what ever they are in the pics where you first go to Tu Lia look a lot like the medals you get for finishing a dungeon as an adult in Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time? Ive seen pics from this cinema scene before and I though it looked like them too. Anybody else see it or am I just going mental from playing this game so much :p ?

How do you find PTing with war/nin and war/sam work out faluzure? From what ive seen you have PTed with them. Im asking because im not sure if i want to continue with my DRK or go on with war/nin / war/sam. I would like to get someones opinion about this that has actaully PTed with them both at higher lvs. Thanks

Hmm, I haven't leveled up in a while so I'll try to remember. Based on what you told me, I'm assuming you have Dark Knight, Warrior, Ninja, and Samurai as your current available job types, so I'll only address those. As for your DRK, it depends on what your subjob is. As a DRK/WAR you can do decent but at level 60, you really need to have THF sub instead of WAR. There is a very good chance DRK/THF will be chosen over you just because Trick /Sneak attack is so much more deadly.

For the WAR combos, I can tell you this. I do remember when leveling up we always looked for a PLD/WAR as our primary choice for a tank. When they weren't available, our 2nd choice was either NIN/WAR or WAR/NIN because Utsusemi: Ichi is the best replacement. If both types of players exist, a PLD/WAR will nearly always be chosen over the WAR/NIN or NIN/WAR. If you have a tank, then there is no need to go Ninja sub as the spells aren't very helpful to the party. Dual-wield would be ok for 1h Axe, but you need to be able to use Great Axe to perform certain skillchains. Going Samurai sub will be the next logical choice since I'm assuming its available to you now. At higher levels, I've seen most Warriors use Axe or Great Axe, as these are the weapons of choice when building up level 3 & level 2 skillchains. The Warrior specializing in these two weapons is able to do any type of Skillchain effect when paired up with another melee. However, it's important to note that if you aren't the primary tank, the Warrior job is a support melee. You won't deal a whole lot of damage unless you pick WAR/THF, but as WAR/SAM you can gain TP faster to possibly do 2 skill chains per battle.

Overall, Warrior is a versatile job because you can function as any aspect of melee with the right sub. WAR/NIN = Dodging Tank; WAR/THF = Primary Damage; WAR/SAM = Skillchain King. Warrior is also a gateway job for other great job combos (PLD/WAR = Hate-Control Tank; NIN/WAR = Dodging Tank; MNK/WAR = Damage-Absorbing Tank; RNG/WAR = Damage Dealer; SAM/WAR = Skillchain King). I hope this helps...

Oh... well crap. I feel stupid now. Hmm.. I'm trying to think... Ok. Mission battles & BCNM are basically HNM/NM battles. The mob(s) are super tough. This is the summary of what to expect for melee players:
#1) Keep the NM/HNM on the tank (if you can).
#2) Deal as much damage as possible, but not too much where the tank loses hate.
#3) If in a high aggro area, keep the mobs off of the players concentrating on the NM/HNM.
#4) The Designated Skillchainer: Use it with whoever you are paired with. Only a few members in the alliance should be assigned to do skillchains. There is very good reason for this. Mages, especially black & red will gain enmity faster than the tank can due to multihundred damage nukes. If they are required to do continuous magic bursts from multiple chains, they will gain the attention of the NM/HNM and there's no way a Paladin can keep enmity.)
#5) Non-designated Weapon Skill'er: You aren't part of a skillchain, but you se your WS when you have it. MAKE SURE you don't get in the way of those designated as official Skillchainers. This will screw up the burst. Use <calls> & Notices. If you have Sneak/Trick attack, use it on the backup tank so they can hold the NM/HNM's attention just in case the main dies.

The last time I saw a WAR, she was sub THF and designated the starter of a level 3 skill chains for the NM we were fighting. We originally started with 'Darkness' with the DRK/THF we had, but we swapped to 'Light' instead because Thunder IV did more damage against that particular mob.

Unless you have a THF sub, I think you would be the melee player that would apply to #3 & #5. If there's a lack of good SChainers, then you would be assigned as #4. Every member counts, that's why it's an Alliance! That's what a lot of people in my LS do when we go on hunts. We normally have 2/3rd mages & support and 1/3rd melee'ers. The only melee job who is required to constantly attack is the PLD/WAR tank. Everyone else can disengage and go attack a mob if there is aggro, but when you hit 100+% TP, you go back and do your skillchain for the mages. Rinse & repeat.

Personally in my opinion, I think your NIN & SAM should at least be 37. Maybe add in a 37 THF if you have the time. With those 3 as sub, you can carry your WAR all the way to 75 with ease. As for the DRK/WAR, you can only carry him to 60 without a THF sub unless there's a mad shortage of DRKs at the time.

I'm going to get samurai again when i get lvl 30 and i've been thinking about a good sub. i know warrrior is usually prefered as a sub to most but what about thief? Samurai aren't meant to hold hate so they don't need provoke and Thief have high dex and agl which both a neccesity for samurai to get a lot of tp (more successful hits = better tp gain). Just looking for information from someone with a lot of experience playing the game. It's ok if you don't know.

I'll post some Summoner Avatar pics up next. There's a handful showing different stages of the battle. I also got done checking out all the new items the patch added and all I can say is wow. I'm going to have to do a lot of hunting so I can get these and make my BLM much more uber.

My LS fought Adamantoise today. I thought about taking a video for you guys to show you what it was like, but I was running at my default resolution (1280x768) and didn't think it would turn out well. I did press the video cap key just to check out the quality for about 15 seconds..its not as bad as I thought. Not as smooth as a 640x480 capture on a good computer, but its better than a lot of those 640x480 caps I've seen lately on the video thread. Anyway, the next time I fight an NM, I'll try to cap it for you.

To ssj2liger0: SAM/THF is actually a good combo to use. The Thief's evasion + DEX bonus actually helps with the SAM. However, since you will have sneak attack, you need to be extra careful. You gain TP fast and if you constantly do a WS & sneak, you're gonna take up a lot of hate. When you get to around 60 for Trick attack, this will help you tons by allowing you to dump hate onto your tank. This combo works pretty good IMO.


To Hotsuma: No no, I had an alliance. Genbu is way too hard without one. When you cycle through your macros & menus, you lose the status box of the other teams. If you look back at the pics, you can see the alliance status boxes in some of the screenshots where I don't have my macro toolbar on screen. Hope this clarifies things.
