        • Yes, the story guide and history guide is there, and I'm very thankful for them. But that isn't a script... it's like the difference between reading the book itself, and reading a summary.

Got a question for ya, about the hecatomb set... You could probably ask someone who has it directly.

I hear conflicting rumors/theories that the +slow% on hecatomb is either just that (a percentage) or just that specific number added to delay.

In other words, say 500 delay +13% to make it 565 delay.
            Or: 500 + 13 for 513 delay.

On one hand it would make the set only marginally useful as such a huge delay increase isn't worth the stats, on the other hand, the delay would be a LOT less of a pain and make this set a more worthwile upgrade.

                {Help me out!}

To Tchernobyl: A member in my LS has this piece. I think all of you who are on Quetz know who it is. It is a % of total speed, not a fixed #. So the % slow adds delay to attack, as well as spellcasting. This is why Ninjas or Ninja subs want you to cast haste on them (as well as some mages & bards). The % boost from the haste spell cuts the recast time quite a bit for spells (Utsusemi anyone?) and it makes you attack a bit faster. This is also why you cast haste on a white mage attempting to raise several people (as all of us know from Dynamis and alliance events). I've noticed that say Raise has a delay of 1:30? You cast haste and it the recast becomes about 1:22. Furthermore, you can also see why some of the gear for Monk and Bard has Haste % Up. This allows them Monks to attack faster and Bards to recast their songs faster. Haste has the same effect to delay/recast as Slow does.

Now with that said, take for instances the NQ of the Hecatomb set. That is a total of 43% slow. 43% slow to a weapon is *very slow* in attack speed. So at a glance, most would say this Abjuration set *sucks*. I mean even with the awesome stats for the whole set: +36 STR, +20 DEX, +10 Accuracy, and +20 Attack, why would you want to use this with a 43% slow?

But see, most people do not look at the whole picture... That those who are able to equip this set, try their best to obtain a multi-hit weapon such as the Joyeuse, Ridill, or Kraken Club because the multi-attacks on these weapons disregard delay altogether. It almost seems like you make a swing every half a second or so when your multi-hit activates. So no matter how much you are hasted (or slowed), if your multi-hit activates, you're going to be swinging like crazy. If anyone of you have seen the Kraken Club, Joyeuse, or Ridill in action, then you know how fast it attacks. I have Joyeuse and can tell you that it seems to activate 50% of the time and my attacks are very fast. My LS mate has the Ridill and his multi-attack seems to activate quite often. As for the Kraken club... it seems like you're on crack. So if you attach these to the Hecatomb set, it pretty much negates the % slow altogether. Sure your delay will cause you to attack slower, but your multi-hit weapon will make you gain TP faster. In addition, you get all the benefits and none of the penalties of this set.

To Sabastion: I have never seen this in PT play. Very few people have it (as well as a Kraken Club or Ridill). I have seen it in action against normal mobs though (in a picture I'm about to post). The Kraken Club alone is pretty crazy, so it seems the person had no detrimental effects to his attacks (by the time the Kraken Club was done attacking, he was able to attack with his other weapon again).

Small Edit: Look at this image.. Can you tell me what he has on? It's obvious he has a lot of the Hecatomb set, but what's on his hip?

Gives me hope that I may be able to do it someday. I recognized some of the names, though the only one there I saw that I know (or knew, rather) personally is Cerescole. Can't believe she has DRG that high up now... I remember back when she was a level 60+ PLD. Hell, I remember when she was only a level 30 or so PLD.

I have a quick question though, if you (or anyone else reading the thread) can help. What is that sword that Sixx was using in this pic? Is it the Greed Scimitar? I've seen a few high level THFs with it. Anyway, can't wait for more CoP pics.

To Kyrial: Astral Signa is rare... so I didn't expect it to drop. To tell you the truth, there is no price history of it on the AH so in the event that it did drop, our group wouldn't know what price to set it as. There are rumors that it is going for 3 million on other servers. I think that's a little high. After all, all the elemental staves give you better effect than the Astral Signa and you could buy all of them for cheaper than 3 million.

Cerescole? >_< I'll stay out of it. Moving along...

I'm not sure if that's the Greed Scimitar. You'd likely have to ask Sixx yourself. I don't like examining people (even if it is bugging me to find out what they are wearing). I usually just ask them... If I get no response, I just move on (or get someone else to examine for me). :spin:

Not sure about the CoP Kyrial, some people are getting tired of it. I need to start posting an assortment...
Well, I have kinda a bad history with Cerescole, but I didn't wanna bring that in here... but anyway, I guess I'll find someone with it and examine them myself. And as for CoP, I understand. Just don't take too long, I can't wait~ :spin:

To Kyrial: Ah I see. It's not that I personally have a bad history with Cerescole, it's more of what she did to my friend. Plus, people who know her said some stuff about her lately. Again, I'll stay out of it. No more talking about that. I left the NA Linkshell community because of the drama and it seems to follow me wherever I go... regardless of if I'm in an NA LS or not.

You can ask Sixx tonight if he/she's on. As for CoP, yeah... I think I'll post up to the end of M3-5 and then stop there. I don't want to neglect my other readers. Don't worry, I won't wait too long. (I made you wait forever for Zilart, remember?) Tee hee.

Oh and by the way Kyrial, I've been meaning to ask you. How often do you level up? My White Mage is level 45 (same as your Thief according to your banner). If you want, we can level sometime. I thought it would be nice to get a level or two with a friend.

                    • I'm a quiet reader of the posts on this forum and I rarely post on forums. But I just wanted to say that I appreciate the screen shots you've made and the fact that you're taking the time out to show us the scenes from the story.

While I appreciate that there are those of us who don't want to be spoiled... There are probably many, many, many more of us who are casual players of Final Fantasy XI, like myself, who will likely never have the time or the high levels to /see/ these missions such as the Zilart missions or the detailed Promathia missions. This is just because our time is limited and we play the game casually - but we still love the story and enjoy reading about the exploits of others. So please do not stray from that or be discouraged from that. I mean this very respectfully to other readers here - but there are plenty of threads on this forum that show HNM fights and equipment shots - but only one thread that gives us fans of the games good insight into the storyline with graphics and images.

So taking a break from mission posts is good.. but there are alot of us who enjoy them and truly get a stronger enjoyment of the overall game.

To gigaton: Thank you much for the compliment sir (I'm assuming sir, because I don't know many girls that would use a handle called gigaton. J/K, just a little humor. I drank a lot of Mt. Dew today.) On a serious note, yeah... that's why I started posting stuff like this. It was just general high-resolution images because everyone was still using the POL method or had slower computers who couldn't run at high-resolutions. Then came the HNMs (which I still am grateful for being a part of so early in the game), as most people didn't know what HNMs were or anything about them. I wanted to share with you guys the things I saw. I did that for several months, showing you different aspects of end-game. Then came Promathia, which I assumed not many people would do because they are such a hassle to organize and some are even harder to complete. But I realized one thing about Promathia that didn't apply to the past pictures. Showing Promathia pictures were actually spoiling the story, which was something a certain select amount of people wanted to do on their own. I knew in the back of my head that even though I'm posting new content, I'm alienating a certain % of my viewers. I never meant to do this. I try to be fair, which is why I'm posting a halt on the Promathia missions. Don't worry though, I'll keep posting them... just not as often. I have to go back and start grabbing screenshots of things people want to see. You can't please them all, but I sure as hell try to. Again, thanks for the compliments.

And speaking of Promathia, I'm going to go ahead and finish up until the end of Chapter 3. As I know a few of you are anxious to seeing the BCNM dialogue for that part... So here we go...

                              Promathia M3-3 - Sand'Oria Part I
A lot of pictures in this set (Mission 3-3 was just a big walk around Vana'diel). I split up Sand'Oria and Windurst into 2 separate pieces each. Which means there will be 4 parts to this particular mission. I'm going to stop with CoP at the end of Chapter 3 for a while because I seem to be forgetting about the other readers on this thread. I'll mix it up a bit. I'm supposed to be fighting Kirin soon with my LS, so I'll post some screenies of that in a few weeks. Anyway, let's rush through these.

P.S. Damn I love Ulmia. Better than Lion.
