I've been thinking about using your screenshots to help write the script of the main story of FFXI. Would that be ok with you? I'd give you credit of course. :p

To CRtwenty: Write a script for a story? Sure I don't mind. I'd be honored of course... but do I have enough pictures for you to make a script?

To Ryoko: Actually, yes I do. The smaller pictures were from when I first started this thread (so excuse the quality and small size). I didn't start censoring names until about a few pages into it (just common courtesy).

            The pictures are as follows:
            1st - AF w/ Hat
            2nd - AF without Hat
            3rd - Vermillion Cloak
4th - Noble Set (WHM Job Only)
            5th, 6th - AF2 w/ Lilac Corsage
            7th - AF2 Body w/ AF2 Hat

            • People listened in Dynamis? {lie} or {True Strike}?

Anyway, Dynamis lotting rules could be worse. They could say that every player must determine one and only one job they can lot AF2 for, and they can only get started on another set once most people in the Dynamis LS have got 4-5 pieces of AF2. (Personally, I think that would be an even more aggravating rule, but I can also see it happening in an effort to be "fair" and "not let one person get tons of AF2".)

Heard that there were a hefty number of people in the high 60's or low 70's (rather than mostly 74-75) for that Dynamis run. Did that make any noticeable impact? I'm wondering whether Dynamis is more about levels and competence of the people in it, or whether it's more just plain sheer population (I also heard there were 60+ people for last night's D-Bastok).

Needless to say, I'm still anxiously awaiting more Promathia plot, but delayed gratification is kinda nice ... I'm getting to enjoy this over a nice long period of time this way.

To Vilurum: I kid you not. It is {True Strike} x 500000. They listened so well, I'm actually proud of the way things went (except my super poor lotting skills).

The lot you stated is somewhat fair, but 4-5 pieces of AF would require us to go to Beaucedine and Xarcabard (which none of are ready for, heck we couldn't even get through Windurst with the old people). A few people had issues with the lot system, but I think it's fine. We'll likely repeat Dynamis over and over for a while as long as people are interested.

As for the hefty number of people that were high 60s & low 70s, yes this is true. Unlike the original roster of 70+s we used to have, many of the new folks were actually 70 or lower. It made no impact whatsoever. Actually, I think the combination of actually *listening* to directions as well as the revamping the strategy contributed to the overall victory. All in all, guess how many people died? I would say through the whole run, about 10 people died (many of them the same people.. PLDs of course). There were 0 wipeouts. Going through Dynamis Bastok was amazingly easy!

The roster for last night's Dynamis was about 58 people. Slacker laid down the law and stuck with it. When it was time to get ready, he set the cutoff and didn't let anyone else in. That was a big pet peeve of mine for the past Dynamis'... people being late. People would stroll in like 30-40 minutes late asking to join in. It didn't happen this time and I'm glad. We started a little bit later than usual, but that was because Slacker went through the whole rules process (what to do, how to do it, setting up macros, talking about strategies, and lotting rules). It should tell you something of the folks last night when we used to have 64 people all level 73+ and we couldn't even finish a Dynamis. Very good run last night. Let's hope the tradition continues for next week's.

To CRtwenty: Oh wait... are you going to write a script based on *my* adventures? I guess so people can read the dialogue all the way through without having to look at the page? I assume that's what you're doing (kinda making it like a storybook with a few pictures here and there)? If not, I'm confuzzled. Again, I don't mind, but I'm not quite sure of your intentions.

                        • Well a lot of people would like to read the storyline of the game without having to sort through a thread like this looking for pictures. Putting the script into a text format makes it a lot easier to reference... It's not so much your story, as the combined storyline of the Missions... or at least it will be when it's complete. And since you already have a really good start on this with your screenshots I figured this would be the best place to start, so I can get a big chunk out of the way before turning to others (which I most likely will have to do for the individual Mission storylines)...

Here comes the real question though, would you like your character to be the one used in the script? Or should I just use a generic character? So I'd be using your characters name in all scenes where a character name is actually used... If you don't want your character in the script I'll most likely just use my FFXI character's name in its place.

                          • Nice pics of Tzee Xicu and D-Bastok, Fal. Too bad Tzee didn't drop the Astral Signa, eh? That's cool that Dynamis went so well, even with lower level people. Gives me hope that I may be able to do it someday. I recognized some of the names, though the only one there I saw that I know (or knew, rather) personally is Cerescole. Can't believe she has DRG that high up now... I remember back when she was a level 60+ PLD. Hell, I remember when she was only a level 30 or so PLD.

I have a quick question though, if you (or anyone else reading the thread) can help. What is that sword that Sixx was using in this pic? Is it the Greed Scimitar? I've seen a few high level THFs with it. Anyway, can't wait for more CoP pics.

                            • If you're gonna make a generic storyline I'd suggest you use your own name or a generic name such as ... I dunno ... <name>, or Fluffythebarbarian. If Fal wants to be the name in the script, of course, by all means let him be.

Keep in mind that some cutscenes will vary slightly ... for example, in that last batch Fal posted, it talked about the Federation since he is Windurstian. But it would've changed if his nationality were different. Generally once you've completed the relevant quest or mission you can see all variations on its cutscenes by going to replay them.

Easy example that many people have done, is the opening scene of the SMN quest. You normally see Ajido-Marujido there, but if you're at a certain point in Windurst's mission plot (I think it's between completing 6-1 and completing 8-2 or 9-1), you will see the Joker cardian instead. (In fact, there's a variation for that reason, on *every* non-mission cutscene that can involve Ajido-Marujido - one with and one without him. Just as an interesting FYI.)

As for mission screenshots, if I ever get around to installing fraps, and (more importantly) if I ever get around to collecting mission screenshots and finding a place to host them, I do have Windurst and Bastok rank 10 and am currently working on San d'Oria as well.

Also done a *ton* of quests (though I'm still working on some of the new ones), and a number of those have interesting cutscenes as well.

(One not-so-tough quest I recommend to anyone who likes plot is the "A Timely Visit" quest in San d'Oria. It's got like a dozen cutscenes to it, an interesting storyline, and only one actual fight, which a few 40's can handle pretty easily, and a high level can solo easily.)

To Marvul: Oh boy... I knew this would happen sooner or later. I seem to have forgotten about you guys (the ones who don't like reading about missions), haven't I? I apologize greatly for this. If any of you recall, before I got into Promathia, I said something along the likes of "there is less and less content to post." I've pretty much shown you all the popular HNMs and I thought you guys got tired of the repetitiveness. The fact is Marvul, I don't think you'd like to see the same battles over and over. If any of you disagree, then I'll gladly take some pictures of the HNMs I fight and post 'em here as well as the drops. As a matter of fact, my LS has a Kirin battle planned in a few weeks, so I could post some pictures of it. The problem is, you've already seen 2 Kirin battles by me (and it wouldn't look any different). I guess what I'm trying to say is that you'll see the same things and the only thing that would be different is the drops. I was hoping Promathia would give us more HNMs to fight, but there aren't any to be discovered (besides the 3 Wyrm Kings). I'm only assuming that more will be added as time progresses (after all, weren't the God HNMs added after a few months of Zilart?)

Anyway, I'll try to do better about these things... Maybe I should take a break of the mission screenshots... I guess this is a good time for any of you who want requests, to post them here.

As for the other missions... I recently worked on Missions 8 and part of 9. I did take screenshots, but I deleted them thinking nobody would want to see them. Oh well... I should've asked first because you could've used these for your script too.

To Kyrial: Astral Signa is rare... so I didn't expect it to drop. To tell you the truth, there is no price history of it on the AH so in the event that it did drop, our group wouldn't know what price to set it as. There are rumors that it is going for 3 million on other servers. I think that's a little high. After all, all the elemental staves give you better effect than the Astral Signa and you could buy all of them for cheaper than 3 million.

Cerescole? >_< I'll stay out of it. Moving along...

I'm not sure if that's the Greed Scimitar. You'd likely have to ask Sixx yourself. I don't like examining people (even if it is bugging me to find out what they are wearing). I usually just ask them... If I get no response, I just move on (or get someone else to examine for me). :spin:

Not sure about the CoP Kyrial, some people are getting tired of it. I need to start posting an assortment...
