No, I passed on it. I wanted the Wyrmal Abjuration: Legs... Didn't get that though, lost the lot. The Wyrmal Abjuration Legs only drops from Kirin. No other God has this item. That's why its really rare and nobody I know has them. Hopefully I'll get them... someday.
Wow, this is a pretty cool thread. I didn't have time to look at all 35 pages but you've made me eager to see some zones that I'm almost at the level to see finally.

OVERLORD BAKGODEK & Charybdis On Sunday afternoon, I decided to camp Charybdis to get him to spawn because the invites for a red mage was really lacking that day (there were a total of 8 Red mages seeking at the time). I already knew the time of death for the previous Charybdis and used this to my advantage to get him to spawn. Charybdis' spawn is about as lame as Lord of Onzozo's spawn time... It truly sucked. I sat around & waited for the reset interval to pass on Charybdis and started camping him from there. I ended up waiting 7 hours because he decided to be lame and not spawn after the reset window. Anyway while I was waiting for spawn, a SMN in our LS, who was skilling up in Monastic Cavern, found that the baddest ass orc was there waiting to be killed. A few messages in Linkshell and those that could make it were already off. I went along too because my HP was set in Norg, so I could go back to killing Devil Mantas after this route was done. Anyway, he was pretty tough. He did a slam dunk on our ninja who's Utsusemi ran out and killed him. Other than that, pretty neat-o. My LS has never seen me play as a redmage, so this was the first time they got a peek at that. I was flattered when they told me I was a great redmage (in Japanese of course), that made me happy cuz I know tons of Redmages on our server that truly suck and don't even play the way Red is supposed to be played.
I eventually got Charybdis too, as my LS leader decided to come help me and stuck with me the whole time helping me to try to pop Charybdis. He wasted 5 hours that day and that truly shows how caring my HNM LS really is about one another. Not greedy like other people I know. When he spawned, we gathered who we could and invited 2 guests. Our LS is very fortunate because we have 2 Ninjas that are decked out in the best shit you can get (or very well close to it). The one that could make it was ownage. He made Charybdis his b**ch. Anyway, it brought a tear to my eye to see my LS help with an item I wanted. I love you guys!
Damn you! juggernaut's one of the items the WAR on the ls have been trying to get, but the other LS around always seem to be hunting him too... costs 3 million on Midgard x_x
As is charb for that matter. Its a pain to get him to spawn :/
To Dark Aphalite: I don't know if you'd call it luck, because I don't think luck just happens to anyone. I think it partially has to do with the effort you put into it though. Of course there are times when people can just leech and end up with good things, but they can only go so far... Everyday I bust my ass to do my best and help my LS & friends whenever they need it. I'm generally nice to people and try to help them out when I'm not busy. There's times when things get bumpy but I try to resolve it in a mature manner. If I have a problem with someone, I keep it in tell (although there's this one person that I really hate on my server.. I'm on the brink of blowing up on them >_<) But overall, if you put forth the effort and try your best to be a good person, I think good things will happen in the end.
As for showing shots... I'm relatively low key. I still don't show my Joyeuse off. I think I've worn it once in Jeuno (it was the day I got it, I was running to the Mog House to log off.) Yesterday my friend said, "show your Joyeuse off" while everyone was waiting for the Dynamis - Bastok to get rolling. I just said, "I don't have one..." Maybe I'll take a picture for you soon when I get more comfortable with it
To Tchernobyl: Oh wow, the Juggernaut is good... I didn't even notice! Typically when things drop from NM/HNMs, I pass on them without even looking if they don't have RDM, BLM, WHM, or SMN in the requirements. I wonder how much it is on our server... No matter, a WAR in our LS grabbed it cuz he wanted it. That's typically how things go in our LS. Even if stuff can sell (no matter the price), if someone in our LS needs it or would like it, we give it to them without second thought. Its not like money is a big deal to them, they nearly have all rare/ex stuff and pushing our members to have the best stuff makes our LS stronger as a whole.
Dynamis Bastok - Revisit We went back to Dynamis Bastok last night for a Paladin who sacrificed himself for us so he could get the key item. I'm not reallysure what happened along the way. It did seem like we breezed through much faster than last week's run... However, I think we didn't get as many time extensions. Perhaps we missed the time extension mobs but we just didn't do it in time. We tried to pull a boss but we failed miserably. I ended up dying within 10 seconds left because I tried to help pull the mob boss (all I had to do was stay alive for 10 seconds!) Anyway, it was a payday for dragoon, monk, paladin, bard, and summoner that day. As at least 1 or more AFs dropped for those jobs. Still no AF2 Tonbans The BLM that got it last week... I'm not sure if she knows how they work... I saw her wearing them today and not swapping them for the Errant Slops... It makes me cry because they're going to waste

I never melee as RDM in XP Parties.. Never ever. There is no point in it at this level. Sure you can get away with it in the lower levels but at my level (72), you don't have time. I sit back and enfeeble/refresh. I nuke only during skillchains (if I have the mana) and I always backup heal or remove enfeebles on my PT.
Besides, I have to equip the Mythic Wand when I cast enfeebles. I magic burst with elemental staves, cast cure with the light staff, and rest with the dark staff. So even if I did melee, my damage is too gimp compared to other front line jobs and my TP gain would be too slow to be of any use. With all the swapping of equipment, you lose your TP by switching weapons.
Wow, Dynamis looks scary, and I'd like to take this time to correct my earlier post. I didn't have time to look at all 65 pages. :spin:

sigh... if only all rdm's took this advice.
have you tried rdm/nin at your lvl? i know you would only have a lvl 36 sub, but i'm curious if you've given it a try. lvl 74 rdm/nin is said to be quite hawt for soloing bad boys... just curious if you've tried.

I have heard about it and it does work decently. But don't expect to be a super solo machine but you do have distinct advantages over the pure Ninja/War (for soloing of course). The fact that you can heal yourself, haste, & buff is quite good. The ability to have double blink/utsusemi as well as phalanx stoneskin & unlimited mana makes you a solo monster.
However, I've seen lately... that people are doing RDM/NIN just because of that REd Mage 101 topic on Allakhazam. However, they're doing in party formations! I've seen it at all levels, some guy is doing RDM/NIN. The last time I saw this was Crawler's Nest... PLEASE PLEASE Red mages, do not do this. If you're in an XP PT, do not do this combo. This combo is for soloing/farming/skill up. NOT for parties... you are utterly useless... *cry*
The problem lies in this. I have been strictly mage for the whole career of FFXI. I have no melee jobs leveled. The Red mage has many different routes they can go in for their career path and each has their advantages/disadvantages. Of these are:
Red Mage/White Mage (Party play & solo)
Red Mage/ Black Mage (Party play & less effective solo)
Red Mage/Summoner (Party play & lesser effective solo)
Red Mage/Ninja (Pure solo)
Red Mage/Dark Knight (NM/HNM purposes)
Out of these, I am lacking RDM/Ninja and RDM/Dark Knight. I particuarly need RDM/DRK for purposes of my Linkshell. However, I also need Red Mage/Ninja for my soloing & farming. In order to level Ninja & Dark Knight up to 37, i have to have War sub. I dread doing the Valkurm-Qufim routine 3 times more for those jobs... I could always just get level 5 WAR and then take ninja & dark all the way to 37 with a level 5 war sub, but I have strong beliefs that everyone should have their sub caught up to their main job. I'm not about half assing anything... So I'm basically putting this off until my red mage hits level 75.
From then, I believe I'll mix it up between summoner, warrior, Ninja and Dark Knight... but man... I don't even want to think about it because that's going to take me months of work... My plan next is SMN, but I do need to get my melee jobs up sooner or later.
