Wow...I am constantly impressed by this whole thread! Your unveiling of pictures, taking requests, and answering fan mail (like this one here ^^) makes you very much a celebrity on these forums!! Please consider me a fan of yours! (^_-)d

Anyway...I am, like so many other fans, interested in how exactly you managed to pull off having English menus, NPC dialogue, etc. yet still be able to type Japanese. Hopefully with the sequent questions, I and we (the forum readers) can learn more specifically how you managed to pull this off and more!

And now the questions...
- Seeing all of these pictures of you at such a high level, I am curious: what is your /playtime?
- Obviously you play the PC edition, but what is your setup (in the following regards): Windows XP or 2000 or another; Japanese or English Windows (menus et al.); English or Japanese keyboard?
- You once said that you have both the English and Japanese versions of FFXI
- Which do you prefer and use for FFXI: keyboard or PS2 controller (with adapter)?

Edit: I ask the 2nd question in particular because of the Japanese input. I'm starting to think that you have just a lot of macros (because of your additional use of romaji in conversation (20)) which display Japanese (howto is at Faranim's Guide to Japanese Macros <http://ffxi.cogn.net/forums/showthre...threadid=39434>), but that would be a lot of Macros! So many phrases I see you say: "doumoarigatogozaimasu" (13), "haha" (15), "o~~" (15), Firga and other spells with the arrow (obivious macros ^^), "otsukaresamadeshita~"(16), "matayoreshikudesu~" (16), "hahaha" (17), "o" (22), "are" (22), as well as others (including faces (25)), yet you still retain English message text (about spell casting, NPC dialogue, etc.). So basically: do you just have a lot of macros for Japanese input, or have you somehow found a way around...? (the (#) is a reference to some examples, the # being a page number on this forum) If you would rather PM me, (for some reason or another), please do! ^^

Windowed Chat Log?

Hi Faluzure,

Your screesnhots are amazing! Keep it up!

I'd like to add a question: In a lot of your screenshots, it looks like you managed to split your chat log & have specific stuff (PT chat?) only in the upper "window". How did you do this? It would be incredibly useful to me a RDM. If this has already been answered somewhere, I'm blind. Please point me to it.

Answered twice in this thread one is only two pages back (maybe 3). In your config menu for chat filters you can set Say, Shout, Party, Linkshell, and tell on hold. This produces the result you see there. Hope this helps, even though I am not the mighty Falz

To Hitsujiko: Oosh. What a long reply. Well first and foremost, thanks for the compliments. It really means a lot when people compliment me on what I'm doing or have done. It's nice to know that its appreciated.

As for the JP stuff, I do have TONS of macros for certain situations. I have about 30 macros (3 rows of ctrl/alt) filled with them for certain situations. However, there is *supposedly* a registry hack for this or something. The reason I say this is because I have a friend who used to be in an LS called "Reverence" on Quetzalcoatl. Nalya (kazthegun on these forums) is also in the same LS. Apparently someone in her LS "found" this hack or something and was bragging about it in the LS and showing off their new ability to type in Japanese. My friend messaged me about it but I didn't really care that much. I'm assuming tons of people want to know, so you may want to hit Nalya up on this. Then again though, that person may not want to leak the secret or it could be totally fake. That person could've had a the Japanese client also. Anyway, this was pretty recent (2 weeks ago), so it is very likely that someone may have found a registry hack. Anyway, here's Nalya's Profile. Please don't harass her too much if she doesn't want to tell you. In advance, sorry Nalya if you get a ton of PMs...

Here's the rest of the answers to your questions:
1) My playtime is about 76 Earth days (1824 hours). That seems like a lot but its not compared to the college kids who play this religiously. I work M-F from 8 AM - 6 PM, so that really limits my playtime. In addition, I think that total time may be off a lot because I frequently sell things via Bazaar while I'm asleep or at work. I also sometimes stay online to log when an NM was last killed so I can calculate the next spawn time (ie: Argus).
2) PC Ver, WinXP -> Eng. Menus, Eng Keyboard.
3) I use Eng. version of FFXI. I could use the JP version because I can read Hiragana/Katakana just fine, but just for efficiency purposes I use the Eng. version since that is afterall, my primary language.
4) For FFXI? Neither keyboard or PS2 controller. I use an X-Box S controller which is in my opinion, the best controller ever.

1) Charity wants 2 Hume females & 1 Mithra. (WIP)
2) Eyes of All wants random location pictures. (WIP)
3) Serial Rain wants a PLD in Adaman Armor. (Check, will upload)
4) Ka1'E1 wants badass RDM & DRG (or other cool level 65) equipment. (Sorta check, I have to collect more SSs)

Here's one to tide you over with until I get it. This was a picture of some people doing the PLD Flag quest. Apparently they got aggro and ran towards the exit. I think that person died... The reason I didn't help was because I was about level 65 at the time (notice the BLM AF) and see the orcs in the pic named Orcish Gladiators? Yeah.. I would've gotten my ass handed to me. I can only take about 3 of those at a time at level 65. Anyway, here you go for now:

back on page 34 the 2 scolls or paper that is rare/ex is that says with this pack a curse can be lifted from the arftifict armor. ? 1 is thats not the same as the jse is it and 2nd ? is that all you need to get the armor or do you need to obtain the cursed armor to and where do you get the armor from? thank you

Um.. I... didn't really understand what you were saying. Its really hard to read your writing without punctuation... I'm assuming you meant the abjurations.

JSE is really a loosely used term. Originally, JSE is used to refer to "high level armor made specifically for a single job". At high levels, most armors are really targeted towards specific job types. For example, caster/support equates to RDM/WHM/BLM/SMN/BRD. Main melee is WAR/PLD/DRK. I don't really use the term JSE anymore.

Anyway, the Cursed AF Equipment can only be created by master craftsman (level 90+ in various crafts). When you create this, you get a "cursed" version. The only way to uncurse these is to pick up the abjurations. There are specific abjurations to uncurse specific types of Cursed AF Equipment. The actual cost of making these equipment can range from 200K to 2 million gil. So yes, when I got my Zenith Mitts, I dished out about a million gil for them.

So in my case, Cursed Mitts + Aquatic Abjuration: Hands = Zenith Mitts. I almost got the Aquatic Abjuration: Body yesterday, but someone outlotted me. Nobody else needs it in my LS now except one person, so its a 50% chance to get it the next time we get one. Then I can be sure I'll dish out another 1.5 million for someone to make me a Cursed Dalmatica. :dead:

nalya aka kaz here. i haven't been around in-game much, but i don't recall anyone other than me using JP in reverence's LS chat. yatsumoto was asking me about it, and i explained as follows: i have both JP and US versions running. i used to have both POL clients running off of the same FFXI folder, hence the registry hack, but then i copied the FFXI directory so i didn't have to go through the file-checking process every time i logged on. like faluzure, i can read all hiragana and katakana, but have limited knowledge of kanji, so i use the JP client when it's JP peak time and i'd like to join an xp pt, and the NA client for just about all other times. i'm afraid of japanese people mistaking me as japanese, so i always make sure to say that i'm a foreigner in my comment (and of course i put スナイパｘ２ and ãƒ?ルã‚_リー, haha).
