Hehe...
I just hit 55 with my PLD today, and AFs and Genkais, and those expensive items and everything was kind of getting me down and making me think of quitting or taking time off...
But now that I've seen these pics, you've... um... inspired (I guess) me to continue on and become uber in this game (although a PS2oob already tell'd me and said I'm awesome haha).
Thanks

when i feel down i like to kill stuff in a far away zone or run to a few places where not many people know exist; a Special place in Yhoater would be my Fav.
After seeing Falu amount of gil he got for the Peacock charm O_O;; (Congratulations on that hehe)

I'm still working on editing the pictures. 100+ pictures is a lot to deal with, so please bear with me. I'm glad I have been an inspiration to you guys. It means a lot. Also, I have noticed you guys are talking about how much level 50+ items can cost. Gil is a pretty time consuming thing to get. I admit, I was extremely lucky to get that Peacock Charm. 5 million gil pretty much bought me everything I needed that wasn't HQ. Even still, some HQ items run into the millions and I can't afford that.
Before I got the Peacock Charm, I had about 700,000 gil. 700K took me about a whole month to get. For those you that aren't lucky enough to get a really expensive drop from an NM, I can provide you with three solutions. They're not easy, but its the only guaranteed way to make money in FFXI.
The first solution is what I did, to be an NM hunter. It's how I got that 700K before Argus. I used to spend 2-3 hours everyday hunting for NMs so I could get good loot. I have specific places I hunt so that I'm guaranteed at least 20K per session. Put that over a few days, you can easily have 100K gil. The problem with this is the competition for the NM pulls. If there's a lot of traffic, you may just come home with 5K.
The second solution is to be the supplier to the crafters. By supplier I mean doing the crafts of fishing, harvesting, logging, and mining. These guys make a decent amount of money. The problem with being a supplier is that the points are a lot like treasure chests/coffers (they spawn at random locations). So you have to compete with others to find these spots and mine them so that they disappear to spawn at another location. Also, the more expensive/valuable the item you can harvest/mine/log, the more dangerous it is. An example is Ifrit's Cauldron for mining. This place has some of the most ore in the game but you can also die. Even as a level 75, I got aggro right at the beginning entrance.
The third solution is probably the wiser, but it requires you to have a big capital overhead (because you buy the components from the AH that are sold by the suppliers). This is crafting. I can already hear the moans coming from your mouths as you read this but crafting is how most the high level Japanese players make their cash. My 5 million is chump change to the people in my LS. They make hundreds of thousands of gil per week.
The amount of gil you make (and spend) depends on the craft. For those of you that only want to spend as little as possible, then cooking is your key to steady income. To be able to get to the point where you can make Meat(Chief) Mithkabobs & Melon Juices will cost you about 150,000 gil total. Yes, this may be a lot of money for you but this is the cheapest craft. Cooking items are consumable, so there will always be a demand for food items unlike the other crafts. So you can expect a slow, but steady income when people purchase from your bazaar. The most expensive craft is Smithing & Goldsmithing, however its the only craft that can pull huge amounts of profit. If you mine your own items, then you can expect an even bigger increase in profits but crafting alone already takes a lot of time. That's why people will buy their own items from the AH.Character: Faluzure

Some high level fish go for a hefty amount, but you have to have high skill + you may have to go to some dangerous spots. The other types of supplying crafts don't require a level at all. Its just chance of getting that great ore or harvesting vegetable.
Fishing is also affected by the day & night and also moon phases. In addition, so many fish bots have ruined fishing, it may be discouraging when you don't catch anything for a long time.
One thing you can do though is at your level, you should be catching lots of Bastore Sardines, Globes, & Quus. The Globes & Quus can sell for a good amount in stacks. The Globes sell really well because they are one of the ways you make poison dust in alchemy. Poison dust is used in various high level recipes. If you have decent cooking, like level 10 or so, you can actually make a good profit off the Sardines. 1 stack of Wind crystals + 1 stack of Sardines will get you 2 stacks of sliced sardines. You can sell these for about 2500 at the AH.
As for "Peacock Charm" amount of money, I don't think any single fish will get you that high but I have seen fishes that sell for 80K & stuff that are used for cooking.Character: Faluzure

I got a good strategy, those dangerous spots you speak of...i can just bring a bunch of my buddies who fish with me to take out those mobs that pop up when you fish...this is when we are of higher level of course. thanks though

Pre-ZilartM4 Shots
These are the shots from Khazam to Uggalepih. We were trying to find the right Tonberry mob to get me my lantern (everyone else already had one). It ends up that the room we found them in had tons and tons of tonberries already there. We didn't want aggro so we decided to take another route to get this mob (the last pic is the WHM casting Escape).

ZilartM5 Solo Shots
Zilart Mission 5 is a bitch. It requires you to go to 7 different locations. 3 of these 7 are soloable. The other 4 have NMs which require an Alliance or Party. These are those soloable shots.
