Then I can finish my mission for Windurst Rank 3 (gotta fight the Bastok dragon), lvl some more, and then get the keys for my Kazham airship pass. ^^
Haha thanks Kyrial & everyone else for the comments. I don't know if being a "crazy mofo" is a compliment, so I'll leave a response with this face.

Anyway, leveling up isn't everything to this game. You guys need to do a balance of Missions/Quests, moneymaking, and leveling up equally. If you become a "leveling whore" and you have no money, then you're in a dilemma because you don't have adequate equipment or spells at that level. When that happens, whether you are a mage or a tank, you aren't doing your job efficiently.

Nobody wants a mage who doesn't have the needed spells at a that level and nobody wants a tank or melee player who has crappy equipment. I've known parties (both English & JP) who have actually kicked out people from their party because of it.

You're pretty much bringing down the efficiency & productivity of the whole party. I've known several people who didn't have enough money for spells, so around level 48+, they were bursting with level 1 spells or they weren't bursting at all. The same goes for some tanks, I've known some people who just leveled and never tried to make money. They would be in their level 40s and would still have level 20 equipment. This is extremely bad for the healers. They would have to dump twice as many heal spells on that person just to keep him alive.

One more *important* thing to certain melee jobs. Many of you meleers know you can equip multiple weapons. It is very very important for you to keep the skill levels up in at least 2 or more weapons. If you are maxed on your main weapon, pick up another and start leveling it up now while you're somewhat low. The reason for this is because at higher levels, certain skillchain sets work better than others. I have known several American players who are in their 60s but have actually gotten kicked out of parties because they are lacking in weapon skills. These jobs that are mostly targeted are Warrior & Dark Knight. Specialty jobs that use 1 weapon primarily (Dragoon, Thief, Ninja, Samurai, Monk aren't really affected).

This wasn't supposed to be a lecture or anything. Its just that many players are concentrating on being the highest level they can without even taking notice to other important aspects of the game. I just wanted to bring it to your attention.

Anyway... I guess what I just wrote may seem negative but hopefully helpful, so I'll stop here in hopes you'll take my advice. I leave you with a request made by Thoronas on the March 17th. He requested a Holy spell in action, so I got it for you. Also, my PT achieved a very difficult feat. We hit EXP Chain #6 with just 1 party. For those of you that don't know, in order to achieve #6, you have about 20 seconds after you get #5 to kill a mob decent challenge or higher. We killed an IT within 20 seconds after (Level 2 Fusion + Level 3 Light + Firega III + Cure V Bursts)

End-game DRG hasn't been looking too well, so I might actually start a new job.. and I might have enough for 2 Astral Rings, hehe ^^

 people want to become BLM because of me? Thanks soki!

One strange thing though about DRG. I haven't seen too much of them lately. Of my last 20 parties, only 1 has been a DRG (yes I counted. I keep a detailed log of my parties, etc. for my own statistical purposes). They almost seem to be a novelty class. The fact that so many other jobs can replace them is partially the reason. In addition, most traditional high level parties I've seen want the following:

Member #1: Someone to soak up damage & keep hate.
Member #2: High damage output, usually to trick/sneak with on tank. Starter or finisher of Skillchains.
Member #3: Another high damage output or part of a skillchain.
Member #4: MP Regen, whether Bard or RDM.
Member #5: Healing duties (traditionally WHM or another RDM).
Member #6: Spell nuker (can be RDM or BLM).

That's typically what I see, but I also see weird tangents, but that's usually the formula. The problem with DRG at my level is that they are only successful when they are either sub THF (high damage output) or sub SAM (creator of 2 separate skillchains within the battle). Their sub War does nothing for them. Although they can sometimes provoke to "save the tank", this is rarely the case. They can't take damage too well and they lose hate instantly with the highest jump ability.

Its not to say they aren't good, DRG/SAM or DRG/THF is very nice. The problem is the availability of other jobs that overshadow this one (just as at level 40-60, RDM can easily replace the WHM in certain situations.)

To Menkhor: Haha, I repeat... I'll take that as a compliment?

To Strifey: Thanks! I'm glad you guys enjoy them.

The weekend is fast approaching once again. I'm 2K away from level 74. Hope to have some nice screenies for you as well to post some requests.

Yeah, I've noticed some of that stuff about some people outside of my linkshell a lot (we in ColdFront know that making money is important too, though; that's why he have fishing PTs all the time ). On the topic of weapon skills, I know I always level my dagger to max for my level, then immediately switch to hand-to-hand, since it's more damaging and has better weapon skills for me than dagger at my level. I know that'll change when I hit level 33 and get Viper Bite, of course. But I see a lot of WARs that stick to swords (1 and 2-hand), but ignore axes, great axes, scythes, and the like. I've tried explaining to them that they should vary themselves a little more, but they don't seem to understand. : / On the issue of equipment though, I rarely see people with lower-level stuff then they should have.

Anyway, you said you don't see many DRGs? That must be because of your high level, because I see DRGs all over the place. I've even been thinking about maybe becoming one myself, but I'm not sure. I'll probably alternate between THF, DRG, SAM, and NIN. I think I like those classes the best. ^^ I have a question though: how many BSTs do you usually see? I NEVER see any of them, in PTs or otherwise. I think once I saw a BST in AF at Jeuno, but that was about it.

                    • Aaahh, forgot something. I also LOVE missions and quests; if anything, I'm far more of a quest/mission whore than a leveling whore. :p The only reason that I even level, really, is so I can do more missions and quests (and so I can travel, cause I love doing that ^^). I mean, I've already done about 40 Windy quests, 10 Sandy quests, a couple of Bastok quests (I'd have done more there, but I just don't like Bastok ), and a few others.

They're in for some bad news then. WARs are called Warriors for a reason. They need to be adept in all weapons. They're not a specialty class. As for the equipment, maybe its changed since I've been in the 20-30s, but I do see it occasionally from time to time.

When I said I don't see many DRGs, i meant I do see a lot of low-level to mid-level DRGs, but not many any higher. Its just very hard for them to get parties because they are easily replaceable. A friend of mine is level 66 DRG right now. I'm level 74. About a month ago, we were the same level. Given the fact that I'm a BLM, I will get parties more often than he will, but that's just an example of how frequently he can get parties.

As for BST, it is true when you read about how they are a solo class. BSTs do have a place in parties but other jobs easily overshadow the BST. The last time I was in a BST party was when I leveled up my WHM from 34-36. I got a PT with 2 BSTs and they didn't use any of their abilities, just Axe WS.

The PS2 resolution is quite low compared to the PC version. Do you have the PS2 version? It many not look as visually good as the PC version, but at least you're enjoying FFXI! In the end, that's all that matters isn't it?

I have an official request, if you get lucky enough to see it. I want to see a PLD in JSE. It's gold, and I think it looks freaking awesome. I've seen one picture where the PLD had the chest piece on, but it was low quality ><.

If you can find that, *ESPECIALLY* if he has the full set, I'll go nuts.

It took me 54 levels to realize why there are more DRKs than DRGs: they simply outdo us, and it'll only get worse 60+.
Also, I don't think there is a DRG75 on my server I just bought an Astral Ring to start a mage class, but I didn't have enough for a second one
