i think this is my first post ever, but ive used these forums for research off and on. anyways, im an aspiring artist and right now im making a portfolio to send to my college for computer animation (this decides the kind of classes i get). im going to draw a samurai using this japanese ink i found but im gonna do some others in pen. you have a very good pen style and i was wondering if you could give me some tips using pen and how long it takes you to get something done. it takes me sometimes a week to finish a drawing cus of school and stuff, but il get back into the flow with practice. heres a good website with some neat art (not ff related)

About my Art

Well Xenoblu,
Though I do know how to use Ink to tighten up my pencil, that's not what I've done with these. Frankly, I'm a fan of the more loose style of pencil, rather than the super clean look that most comic artist use. As far as pointers with Ink, I learned using a "Light Box". I tightend my skills using Ink by placing copies of already Inked work under a piece of Vellum(Repeat until satisfied). The quickest way to improve your results using Ink is when you can easily check to see if your lines are working the way you want them to. Plus you'll become faster when you're more comfortable with whatever tool you're inking with if you test it on Ink Test such as these. I hope that helps, and good luck with the computer animation classes!

heh, I have to say again I love your work.

The taru dark knight was beautifully detailed. All the dips in the armor and such. I also like the scythe going behind his back, an awkward stance.

You are a very impressive artist, wonderful to see such skilled fanart to FFXI.

Your lineart is great, you manage to nail expressions and action poses perfectly. The style reminds me of Joe Maduiera, wich I assume you take a bit from?
Only thing that I can pick on a bit is the coloring, but I assume that is just because I am biased towards airbrush. I think it only fits for surface highlight. Overusing it can make the picture seem smudgy, and it doesn't look very good on hair.


Might as well throw in a lil request. Try a mithra BLM in AF, never seen many of them around. Lessee... Just formatted my computer so my screenshots have been lost, as well as the modelwiever. Got some old pics here at Photobucket. None in AF I am afraid.
