Chronicles Of Sever Sinclaire Part VII: Not Like The Others

It strange how you can grow up thinking certain things like ‘No one is ever going to understand you’, ‘you’ll never belong anywhere’ and ‘you’;ll never find someone who will love you for you and who’s willing to give up everything they know to be with you.’ And it’s strange how all these things you grew up believing and your life can change when you lest explect it.

I arrived in Mhuara around the middle of the day. My first thought was on finding Alena and my second, on Haltro. As I left the dock people were staring at me, it was like they were afraid of me, like they knew something I didn’t. I spotted a local merchant and walked up to them.
Sever: “Excuse me, I’m looking for someone. A female Elvaan, by the name Alena. Do you know where I can find her?”
Merchant: “Sure, I know Alena, she owns the Blacksmiths Guild. It’s up the top level to your left.”
Sever : “Thankyou.” I followed the merchant’s directions to the Blacksmith’s Guild. I went inside and walked up to the counter to speak to the attendant.
Attendant: “Good day, How may I assist you?”
Sever : “ I’m looking for the owner, Alena.” A voice sounds out from the storeroom.
Alena: “I’m very busy at the moment, come back tomorrow.”
Sever: “I can’t, I need some information about my parents.” I could hear Alena’s footsteps as she started walking out from the storeroom.
Alena: “And who exactly are your parents? Someone important enough to interrupt someones hard…work.” Alena stopped when she saw me.
Alena: “Sever!?”
Sever: “You know who I am?” Alena quickly walked over to the assistant.
Alena: “Jennifer, you can go home now. I’m going to close early today.”
Jennifer: “Oh ok, I’ll see you tomorrow then.”
Alena: “No, I’ll call you when I open again.” Alena looks at me.
Alena: “It might be a few days, sorry Jennifer.”
Jennifer: “It’s ok I understand.” Alena then walked over to the front door and opened it and announced to the customers in the store.
Alena: “Excuse me customers. Unfortunately due to an urgent matter I’m afraid I must close the store. I apologies for any inconvenience.” The people left the store followed by Jennifer. Alena looks outside and then locks the doors. She walks over to me and puts her hand on my cheek.
Alena: “You look just like her.”
Sever: “Who?”
Alena: “Your mother, Shaye.”


Meanwhile in Selbina…
Haltro, Dresdenia, Dayloz, Cleaphus and Madison were standing out the front of the Selbina dock.
Cleaphus: “So, Sever killed this guy with her bare hands, left for Mhuara in the middle of the night…And you want to go after her when there’s most likely more bad guys after her!?”
Haltro: “I know it sounds strange, but I need to help her, I need to protect her.” Dayloz, Dresdenia and Cleaphus look at each other and smirk.
Dresdenia: “Well, that’s good enough for me, I’m coming too.”
Haltro: “I can’t ask you to do that.”
Dayloz: “That’s the good thing about friends, you don’t have to ask.”
Cleaphus: “Well, good luck…” Dayloz punches Cleaphus in the leg.
Cleaphus: “Aoww! I mean I’m in.”
Madison: “Cool, Mhuara here we come!”
Haltro: “No Madi, you’re not coming. It’s too dangerous for you. You’re staying with Uncle Burg at La Theine Plateau.”
Madison: “I’m coming with you, Sever’s my friend too. I want to see her! Besides, She gave me the Bloodbead Amulet, so I’ll b protected.”
Haltro: “I said no. You’re not strong enough and…”
Madison: “But how am I suppose to get stronger if you stop me from fighting battles?!”
Dresdenia: “She has a point Haltro.” Haltro thought for a second…
Haltro: “Ok.”
Madsion: “Alright!” Dresdenia, Cleaphus and Madison headed back to The Shephard’s Muster leaving Haltro and Dayloz near the dock.
Dayloz: “Haltro, are you sure you want to do this? I mean, Sever’s life is very strange and complicated. Trust me, I know, we’ve been friends most of our lives.”
Haltro: “I’m sure, I just know I have to be there with her. I can tell she’s scared of whatever’s happening.”
Dayloz: “Ok, but if you hurt her, you’ll find out just how powerful us little Taru’s can be.” They walked over to the others and boarded the boat to Mhuara.

Back at the Blacksmith’s Guild…
Alena: “I had hoped this wouldn’t of started for a few more years.”
Sever: “What are you talking about, what’s started?”
Alena: “You’re changing Sever…physically changing. Your parents were very special people…From a young age your parents were trained in the arts of fighting and magic, they were prodigies. They were able to use any type of weaponry or magic no matter what their level or job. Then 22 years ago an experiment was conducted on them, to find out what made them able to do so. That was when they meet and feel in love.”
Sever: “How long were they experimented on?”
Alena: “I’m not exactly sure. But when the people who were holding your parents found out that Shaye was pregnant they did more experiments. This time, on the baby…on you. And just before you were born your parents escaped and hid from them. They never found out what they did to you. And then during the Crystal War they found Meier and Shaye and killed them. I knew that you’d never be safe with me so I took you to Windust, where your adoptive parents found you.”
Sever: “So, the people who did these experiments on Meier and Shaye found out where I was and now they’re after me for what, to do more experiments?”
Alena: “No not experiments. The man who started all this, his name is Sypher and he’s very dangerous. He’s a high level Red Mage and the reason he’s doing this is so he can use you to control Vana ‘Diel.”
Sever: “What exactly did he do to me while Shaye was pregnant with me?”
Alena: “I’m not entirely sure, but it had something to do with your genes.”
Sever: “Well, at least that explains what happened last night.”
Alena: “What, what happened.”
Sever: “Well, I was attacked by who I now know was 3 of Sypher’s men. They hurt someone I care about then I lost it and I used a high level attack that normally someone at my level wouldn’t be able to use. I killed him without thinking twice.”
Alena: “The trigger must be your emotions.”
Sever: “Of course it is, that’s so cliché…So what do I do now?”
Alena: “I suggest you stay here for a few days I can help you control these power bursts. You’re going to need a stronger weapon than that sword you’ve got now. I’ll take care of it. It’s getting late you should rest. We’ll start training tomorrow.” I sensed something, but not like the other night. This felt different, I felt relief and I turned to the window that faced the dock.
Alena: “Sever, what is it? What do you sense?”
Sever: “…Love.” I got up and rushed outside. I looked down at the dock entrance and I saw Haltro and the others.” Haltro turned and saw me up the hill. He dropped his things and sprinted up the hill and embraced me tightly. He looked into my eyes.
Haltro: “I told you I won’t let you do this alone. I love you.” Hearing him say those few words, words I thought I’d never hear made me so happy.
Sever: “I love you too.” We kissed. The others arrived and I introduced everyone to Alena. We went inside where I told them everything about my parents, Sypher and what was happening to me. They all said they would do anything to help. We all had something to eat and stay up for a few hours talking about family and stuff like that. Everyone headed to bed except for me and Haltro, we went outside to get some fresh air and we had a lot to talk about.
Sever: “So…are you sure you want to be with me.” Haltro chuckled.
Haltro: “Didn’t we already have this conversation!?”
Sever: “I know but…”
Haltro: “Hey, I love you. I came here knowing the risks and I’m not going anywhere. We’ll do this together. Ok!?”
Sever: “…Ok.”
Haltro: “Now come here.” He pulled me close to him, placed my hand on his shoulder and his hand around my waist.
Sever: “What are you doing?”
Haltro: “We never got to finish our dance last night. We got interrupted remember.” We started dancing. I rested my head on his chest and closed my eyes.
Sever: “…I love you….”
