I can’t escape these feelings, I’ve Never felt this way. My father Mamoan once told me ‘What good is a life when there’s no one to share.’ I never understood what he meant…until now.

Haltro: “Come on Madi, move it! We’ve got a lot of training to do before you’re ready for Mhuara. You’re no where near ready, if you want to be a good ranger you…”
Madison: “…Can you please stop acting like mum for a second.”
Haltro: “Yeah, sure.” He looks at the door across the hallway.
Madison: “You’re thinking about her aren’t you? About Sever?”
Haltro: “No…Anyway, she left this morning.”
Madison: “Uh huh.” She smirks at Haltro and starts walking down the stairs and after looking back one last time Haltro follows.

…on a beach east of Selbina…
Haltro: “Ok, now use you’re Flaming Arrow ability.” Madison uses Flaming Arrow on the snipper, then another snipper comes and starts attacking Haltro. He uses his Invincible ability as Madison continues attacking the snipper, but it’s too strong for her and it critically hits her, causing her HP to go down into the orange.
Madison: “HALTRO, HELP!” But Haltro was still fighting the other snipper and uses his Sentinel ability. Madison screams and Haltro turns.
Haltro: “MADISON!”……I cast Cure II and then Protect on Madison.
Sever: “Madison disengage, now!” I cast Diaga and then drew my sword. I attacked the snipper a couple of times and use my Hard Slash ability to finish it off. I look over to Haltro and we smile.
Sever: “Well, look who we have here. I guess we’re even now.” I started walking over to Haltro and Madison runs over and hugs me tightly.
Sever: “AAHH! Got stabbed in the stomach remember Madison.” I held my stomach in pain.
Madison: “Oh, I’m sorry.”
Sever: “It’s ok, just warn me next time...Nice Flaming Arrow by the way” Madison bows courteously as Haltro walked over smiling.
Haltro: “You stayed!?”
Sever: “Yeah, I did. I figured you were right. That I need to heal before I go to Mhuara, so here I am. And I thought I’d take up your offer to train with you, and just in time too.” Haltro and I smiled at each other.

?: “Hey guys! There you are.” A woman jogs over to us.
Madison: “Dres, cool you’re here.” The woman looks over to me.
Dresdenia: “Hi, my name’s Dresdenia, call me Dres. Your friendly White Mage.” I shake her hand.
Sever: “ I’m Sever.”
Dresdenia: “So how are you feeling after the other day?”
Sever: “Pretty Good.” I looked at Haltro puzzled.
Haltro: “Oh, Dres was one of the party members when we found you.”

Dresdenia: “Yeah, you put up a good fight considering you were alone.”
Sever: “Well, I’m use to being alone most of the time.” Dresdenia looked over to Haltro.
Dresdenia: “Cleaphus and Dayloz should be here soon, then we can get started.” I looked at Dresdenia in shock.
Sever: “Wait, you know Dayloz. As in Dayloz the Black Mage?!”
Haltro: “Yeah, you know him too?”
Sever: “ We grew up together in Windust. I haven’t seen him in years.” I explained to them how Dayloz’s and I were best friends, he was a Tarutaru.
Dayloz: “Sever!?” I turned and saw Dayloz, then kneeled down and we gave each other a hug.
Sever: “Dayloz, it’s good to see you. How have you been?”
Dayloz: “Great, I’ve just been travelling around Vana ‘Diel, seeing the sights and meeting new people. And you?”
Sever: “I’m trying to find out about my biological parents. I was travelling to Mhuara and was ambushed by some goblins and got hurt pretty bad. These guys helped me out.” I looked over to Haltro and smiled.
Madison: “Haltro patched he up and is taking care of her.”
Haltro: “I don’t need to take care of her, but I did patch her wounds.”
Cleaphus: “Ahem...” We all looked over to Cleaphus and he smiled.
Cleaphus: “Hi, remember me?!” Dayloz chuckled.
Dayloz: “This idiot is Cleaphus.” Cleaphus looked at me with a rugged smile.
Cleaphus: “Hey, how’s it goin, Monk Cleaphus at your service?”
Sever: “Right. Nice to meet you Cleaphus. If you don’t mind me asking, don’t you look a bit…stupid for a Elvaan?” Everyone laughed, including Cleaphus.
Cleaphus: “Some have said my mental capacity isn’t that of a normal Elvaan. But I try to prove them wrong.”
Dayloz: “And fails.” We all laughed again.
Haltro: “Ok, we’re all here now, let’s do this.”

We spend most of the day training, mostly on Snippers with the odd Beach Pugil. It was mid afternoon when we called it quits for the day.
Dresdenia: “Wow, another day like this and you’ll be ready in a couple of days Madison.”
Madison: “You think so?”
Sever: “Definitely.”
Madison: “I can’t wait for tonight, it’s going to be so great.” I turn to Madison.
Sever: “What’s happening tonight?”
Dayloz: “Selbina’s having a summer festival. Where everyone gets dressed up for dinner, dancing and stuff like that, everyone’s invited. You going aren’t you?!”
Sever: “Ah, I don’t know. I don’t usually do the whole social thing.”
Madison: “But, you have to go. I don’t want to have to hang around my brother all night. Pleeease.” She had the cutest look on her face that reminded me of myself when I was her age.
Sever: “Ok, but I don’t have anything to wear.” Madison smiled and started jumping up and down.
Madison: “Alright!”
Dresdenia: “Don’t worry, you can borrow a gown from me.”
Sever: “Thank you.” We all walked back to the village.
Cleaphus: “Ok ladies, we’re going to go and do some guy stuff…”
Dresdenia: “Drinking?”
Cleaphus: “…And we will see you in a couple of hours.” Dresdenia, Madison and myself were across the hall from the guys getting ready.
Dresdenia: “That dress looks amazing on you Sever.” The dress was a red and purple swirl colour with thin straps, that drapped down to the ground.
Sever: “You think so, I don’t wear dresses much.”
Madison: “Dres is right, amazing.” There was a knock on the door.
Dayloz: “Are you girls ready?”
Dresdenia: “Just a second.”
Dayloz: “Ok, we’ll meet you there.” Dresdenia took one last look in the mirror and left with Madison following.
Sever: “Madison wait. I want to give you something.” I pulled out a necklace from my things and put it around Madison’s neck. We both turned to look at it in the mirror.
Sever: “This is a Bloodbead Amulet. My mother gave it to me when I was your age, to protect me when I was training and fighting monsters. I want you to have it. It will protect you like it protected me. You’re going to be a great Ranger Madison, don’t let anyone ever tell you different.” Madison’s face lit up and then she looks up at me with a big smile and I smiled back. She then gave me a hug.
Madison: “Oh thank you Sever, it’s beautiful.”
Sever: “Come on lets go.” Madison and I then left the room and went down to the festival.
