  • "Trial of Hell" Final BCNM

    Before we get started, let me apologize for the quality of this pic. I sketched it on a few commutes.
    No Flaming.

    Our LS finally got through 17/18 parts of the "Trial of Hell" quest. The last part involved going through the final area called "Vana'diel's Hell - Nog'Mexius". The place was indeed scary. Pools of blood were everywhere, organs beating...eww. Lumorian-ish mobs were everywhere, and they were all IT to 75s. Ix'Hxads were especially tough on the two alliances, with their brutal AOEs and True Sight/ Hearing abilities (All mobs here have True Sight or True Hearing).

    With difficulty, we make it to the BCNM Zone.
    "Trial of Hell".
    Time: 1 hour.
    Level Cap: None.

    And now we arrive into the battle. Maester Hare has two forms.
    His first form was terribly easy.

    Maester Hare's First Form has two Weapon mobs beside him, Maester Hare's Scythe and Maester Hare's Kitana. The two weapon mobs weren't a problem, but they hit PLDs for 200 damage. Maester Hare hits a PLD for 50-120 damage.

    ===Maester Hare has the following moves===
    -Dimensional Tearing: An AOE Slow that overwrites Haste and does around 100 damage.
    -Dark Cloud (50-350 AOE damage + Blindness)
    -Valor Minuet IV
    -Army's Paeon IV (The power of this Bard Song is like 10x of the normal version)
    -Army's Paeon V (10x as powerful)
    -Haste
    -Fire III (200~300 damage.)
    -Firaga III (200~300 AOE damage)
    -Drain (50~150 HP Drain)
    -Aspir (50~100 MP Drain)
    -Cure VI (1500 HP Recovery)
    -EnDark (Adds Darkness damage to a successful normal attack; does around 70~120)

    =========Maester Hare's Scythe======
    -Smite of Rage (500~550 Damage)
    -Whirl of Rage (400~450 AOE)
    -Protect V
    -Shell V
    -WS Guillotine (250 to a PLD)

    =========Maester Hare's Kitana========
    -Smite of Rage (500~550 Damage)
    -Whirl of Rage (400~450 AOE)
    -Regen IV
    -Haste
    -WS Evisceration (150 to a PLD)

    He was really easy. We thought we were going to completely own this guy's second form.



    There are no mobs with him this time, but he has eight rings around him (Like Promathia), a set of wings, and horns. The BCNM also atarts to "beat" like a heart, which was really creepy. Maester Hare comes with a completely new set of moves in his second form. We started to do well--for the first 15%. Suddenly, one of the parties was taken out in one swipe.

    Seriously. One WS.

    Looking at what happened, I told Luna to R3 the WHM in the other party. Suddenly, another party's health started to decrease rapidly. Apparently, the monster casted Thornsong II, and I shouted for the tanks to turn and kite. Then Maester Hare uses Spike Flail in the middle of the fight and hits ONLY the PLD for 2477 damage. However, that whole party died instantly. Lag?

    Told one of the PLDs to continue tanking. Suddenly, his party was taking damage and everyone in his party died but him. So we had the WHMs Raise and the NINs kite (to curtail his Spike Flail, hopefully). Soon, the parties were up, fully healed, and ready to go again.

    Then this bastard uses Grand Cross. Mega Huge AOE that puts everyone in an array of ailments. Then he uses Meikyo Shisui, spams AOE, kills off three parties before everyone is mobile. So we just 2hred. The bastard casts Meteor II and the rest of us wiped except for the BLM, who escaped.

    We went to try again, got to his second form. We manage him down to 50%, but he started to summon these Devil Receptacles. Each one spams a WS that takes its victim down to 1 HP. Killed off the Receptacles easily. Later, he uses some strange move. I was cured by my WHM, then died. From the Cure.

    Luna casts Cure III.
    Moaku takes 350 points of damage.
    Moaku was defeated by Luna.

    Avatars were killing the SMNs as well, and we thought we were going insane.

    After many more failed attempts, I got the data on what this mob does.
    ========Maester Hare's Form 2 Moves====
    -Thornsong II
    Like Blaze Spikes, but does 300-500 damage everytime you hit Maester Hare.

    -Enconclative Shield
    A shield that prevents damage until its Bioplates are destroyed. The Bioplates have 2000 HP, and there are three of them.

    -Mortimal Transfusion
    Deals 700 damage + Slow + Disease + Weight

    -Mortasmic Elegy
    A Bard Song that gives 99% slow. WHMs better Erase this.

    -Emperyeal Corona
    Does 750 AOE damage and causes Stun.

    -Charm Song
    AOE Charm song. RDMs should Dispel Charm.

    -Foe Requiem VI
    Supercharged version that does 250 damage a tick. WHMs should Erase this QUICK.

    -Damnation Sign
    Instant Death to a party member.

    -Nauseatic Gaze
    Causes Petrify and Poison that does 50 damage a tick.

    -Curse of Tension and Uneasiness
    Causes Trouble to the one with the MOST HATE. If the person who has the most hate already has trouble, then it goes to the person who has the second most hate. Everyone in the party will take half of the damage that the person with Trouble takes. Can be removed with Cursna.

    -Spike Flail
    Frontal AOE that does big damage.

    -Magnetium Burst
    The next Elemental spell he uses automatically Magic Bursts.

    -Sins of Cursical Apocalyium
    One of his 2hrs. This converts all White Magic to damage (Cures damage you instead of healing, buffs actually lower your stats), all Bard Songs do the opposite effect, Blue Magic/ Black is ineffective, and Avatars turn on the Summoners and cannot be dismissed. Lasts for a minute.

    -Grand Cross
    One of his 2hrs. This AOE hits everyone in the BC. Can cause Slow, Petrify, Sleep, Curse, Trouble, Paralyze, Disease, Rasp, Choke, Bio, Dia, Frost, Shock, Terrorize, Amnesia, Blind, Weight, and Silence.

    -Benediction
    WHM 2hr; recovers all HP.
    -Meikyo Shisui
    SAM 2hr. He will spam TP moves for a minute.
    -Perfect Dodge
    Dodges all attacks for a minute.
    -Invincible
    Attacks do 0 damage for a minute.
    -Chainspell
    Will spam AMII, AMIII, Cures, and Death.
    -Manafont
    Enables him to cast Meteor II.

    Black Magic
    Firaga V
    Blizzaga V
    Fire V
    Blizzard V
    Burst II, Freeze II, Flood II, Flare II
    Burst III, Freeze III, Flood III, Flare III
    Death
    Ultima

    White Magic
    Cure VI
    Protect VI
    Shell VI
    Stoneskin II
    Holy II
    Holy III
    Regen V

    Blue Magic
    Refueling

    Bard Songs
    Maiden's Virelai

    (Wishful thinking) I really hope they introduce this spell. Somewhere. Anywhere! I really want to be able to witness the splendor of Ultima, whether I'm on the giving end, or the receiving end.

        Not all FF games had Ultima. FF2 was the first to introduce it, but it disappeared until FF6. Then it was in all games up to FFX-2 (although in FF9, it's just a finishing move of Kuja's).

            Nice one. Untill Army's Paeon IV, I doubted it, but it could have been real. However, for 10x the power you need Army's Paeon X.
