I suck at PS - Any advice?

So I had this idea about icons for my FFXI based LiveJournal. Since I'm trying to level a little bit of everything, I'd make an icon for each job, with my character in some pose or another! Well, that's a start (except some of the poses I chose kind of suck - such as WHM, WAR, and maybe PLD as well). But that's all I can really do.

I can crop.
I can put a border on things, provided it's just one layer, or whatever.
Period.

I suck at ze photoshop, and I was hoping some folks might have some useful suggestions for how to spice these up while still keeping them kind of simple.

Anyway, here's what I've got. And yes, BST is missing. Because I suck at it and have no intention of leveling it (at the moment). I mean, I'm seriously bad.

I think they're fine. Whm pose is kinda meh I guess. You could put a background on them or something, but most of the time simpler is better. I'd stick with what you have if it were me.

And you're probably right that they're fine. I just need to find some new poses for a few and they should be ok. I guess I just wanted something fancier. But simple is good too!

I think they are fine too ^^ Things like this relies more on artistic sense than photoshop imo.

I fixed WHM, WAR and PLD, so now I'm a lot happier with them, and you're probably right! Cropping and bordering is likely more than enough to get the job done. I don't really need any fancy brushes or filters or whatever.

I'd still like to learn to do that one day, but I can do that by searching the internet.
