    - The 5th Stone -
    Written by FF_Spazz
    Inspired by Final Fantasy XI

    .ROLOGUE:.

In the beginning, there were 5 stones. Each stone represented an element of nature. Together, they wielded a power greater then any mortal could imagine. Since the power of the stones was too astonishing, they separated the stones, sending them to the five corners of the earth. One in the land of Dalgor, one in the land of San Clevis, another in the land of Talgian, the others lay dormet on the islands of fire and ice. Here, the stone would be kept guarded by a spell that the only the High Summoner himself could undo.
The stones sat there for years. When years turned into centuries, and centuries turned into legends. Until when something that should not have been forgotten was lost in myth.

5000 years went by, and the stones were kept safe…until now.

Fire and death rained from the heavens as the evil Lord Cain, defeated the magic that guarded the stones. One by one, Cain found the stones. Bent on evil and world destruction, he used the stones for death. He has found 4…this is the tale of the 5th Stone.

    .: CHAPTER 1 - It Begins:.

A small clanking sound came from the castle halls. The noise grew louder and louder until a knight stood present in front of the King of Dalgor.

“Sir, Cain has found the fourth stone!” The knight claimed, gasping for air.

“My god…where is the last stone?” The King demanded to be informed.

“It’s been taken to the hills…far from Cain….to the caves of Melith….”

“At least that should buy us some time….Theidon…” The King said, calling for his bodyguard.

Theidon was a young, muscular Elf with long brown hair and blue eyes. Theidon stood 6 foot 2 inches as he reported to the front of the King’s thrown.

“Theidon…If this should turn bad, and Cain finds the stone, we will need every man and elf to hold him back.” The King announced.

“But your majesty, who shall protect you…?” Theidon questioned.

“I have 10 bodyguards, if 9 can’t protect me, then what difference will you make… Now I need you to go. Find worthy soldiers and bring them here.”

“Buh…” Theidon paused. “Yes, your majesty.”

Theidon walked to the arch on the thrown room door when the King announced, “And Theidon…I shall not be here when you when return.”

Theidon paused and turned his head, the continued out of the room. Theidon headed down the steps that led up to the thrown room. Theidon walk with an aggression towards the stables. He pushed the doors of the stables open, then walked up to a black horse and looked down at the commoner who worked in the stables.

“I shall return with many men, have the horses ready to rise by the time of my return.” Theidon demanded of the commoner.

Theidon gripped the reigns of the horse and charged out of the stables, heading for the city of Dalgor.

    .: Chapter 2 - Uncommon Allies :.

As Theidon rode his horse into Dalgor, the clouds rolled in as rain began to fall. Theidon quickly stopped by a near by pub. He got off his horse and tied it up. Theidon then proceeded to walk in to pub, sit down and ordered a Badinmut, one of Dalgor signature drinks known for making even the most painful man num.

Theidon took a small drink and started to look around the room for competent soldiers that would fulfill his needs. He peered across the room to a tall monk that looked to have an IQ over 50.

Theidon left his drink of the bar and strutted over to the monk who was having ale with his buddies.

Tapping the monk on the shoulder, “Excuse me…I’m looking for descent fighters…..”
Theidon waited a couple seconds before asking again. “Excuse me….I’m looking for descent fighters…”

All of a sudden, the monk grabbed Theidon by the neck and pulled him towards his face.

“What do you want!!!” The monk proclaimed in an evil tone.

Running out of breath, Theidon grabbed the dagger out of his holster on his hip and slashed the monks arm. The monk dropped Theidon and clinched his arm which was bleeding heavily. The two elves that were sitting next to the monk got up and held their knives to Theidon’s neck.

“You better watch yourself stranger…or you’ll be lying in a closed casket.” The elderly elf stated to Theidon with a sharp, deep tone of voice.

At this time, the little music that was playing had stopped. The other elf that got up, stood still as he noticed his royal crest on Theidon’s armor.

Theidon quickly jolted his head back, ducking under the Elfish blade, and then thrusting his elbow into the elf’s stomach. Theidon swiftly followed his blow with a fist to the face. The elf dropped to the floor, bleeding from his open lip.

Astonished by the graceful moves Theidon, the monk quickly dropped to his knees and begged forgiveness.

“You two…on your feet!” Theidon ordered! “You have a great deal of fight in you, I shall be able to use you. I am Theidon Voltione, bodyguard to the King of Dalgor and general of the Dalgorian Army. You two are now under order from the king to serve your land and protect it by any means necessary.”

The two men where dumbfounded when Theidon flashed his royal crest. Theidon walked away with the two slowly behind him. Once outside, Thiedon continued…

    “What are your names?”

“My name is Koin. This is Zieo.” The monk said while still gasping…

“Well, Koin and Zieo…tonight we stay at the Inn. Get your rest…you’ll need it!” Theidon warned his two new recruits.

Little did Koin and Zieo know what was in store for them…

.: CHAPTER 3 – The Start of Something New:.

      The next morning came…

Theidon packed his gear, suited up in his armor, and proceeded to mount his pack on his horse. Theidon had finished and was ready to set out on the trail back to the castle of Dalgor. Yet, Koin and Zieo were no where in sight. Theidon looked to his right to find a barrel of water and a scrub brush, the kind that people did there laundry in. Theidon walked over, grabbed a bucket full of water, and headed up to meet the sleeping Koin and Zieo.

Theidon pulled both Koin and Zieo out of bed and laid them each side by side. Theidon subtlety whistled to wake them. Just as they start to open their eyes, Theidon poured the bucket of filth infested water over their heads.

Koin and Zieo gasped for air as Theidon merely sat back and chuckled at the two unsuspecting recruits. Koin trembled as he looked up at Theidon who had a grin on his face.

“Morning!” Theidon greeted them as they both rose to their feet, still shaking from the cool waters.

Theidon picked himself up from the humor and proceeded down to his horse. Slowly, one by one Koin and Zieo made their way down to meet Theidon.

“Mount your horses…we must leave urgently.” Theidon told them both as he started of on the trail north that led to the castle.

The three rode for hour on end. Not once did Theidon stop for water or rest.

They had left at dawn…only to at mid-noon. Once at the castle, Theidon led Koin and Zieo to the council room.

      “I shall leave for a minute…touch nothing!”

Theidon left the council room, leaving Koin and Zieo alone. While gone Koin hopped into a chair. Koin leaned back in the chair, putting his feet up on the table that had the royal crest in the center.

“Koin, Theidon said not to touch anything…”

“I’m not…” Koin replied to Zieo.

Zieo sat down in the chair beside Koin. Koin shrugged his shoulders back and leaned back in the chair even farther, loosing his balance and falling to the ground. Zieo burst into laughter as Koin sluggishly picked himself up. Koin, rubbing the back of his head, noticed that a part of the chair was missing.

      “You broke it!!!” Zieo shouted.

Koin scrambled for the missing leg that had snapped off and flew across the room. Koin grabbed the leg and started to shove the leg back into the chair.

Zieo ran to the door a peaked through to find that Theidon was coming back.
“Hurry…They’re coming back!!!” Zieo shouted nervously at Koin.

Koin shoved the leg back in place and turned the chair up right so no one would notice.
Koin and Zieo scurried to sit in a chair and began to act natural.

Theidon and a group of 11 men came walking though the door, sat down, and began to talk.

“My name is Theidon…We are all here to discuss who will go with what squad…So can each one of you stand up and tell us your name as so we can get to know you.” Theidon presented.

      “Pulma Harisntak”
      “Leo Genof”
      “Liforg Nitog”

All of a sudden, a small mage came running through the door, and began to sit down when Theidon stopped him with a question…

      “And you are?” Theidon asked.

“Oh….sorry I’m late…My name is Sevesi Collat, but you can call me Sever.” The mage answered.

Sever pulled out the last chair and sat in it. Sever sat for a couple seconds when he started to lean back and the chair broke apart as Sever came crashing down to the floor.

Very nice even though the things you made my character do in Chapter 2 isn't like me, Chapter 3 is. :D Anyways. It's good but the chapters are a lil' short.

            .: CHAPTER 4 – First Blood :.

Theidon carried on his speech as best to his abilities.

“As we speak, the 5th stone is being moved to another location so that Cain won’t be able to find it. Now, all of us know that it will not be long until Cain has his hands on the 5th stone. Our objective is to meet up with the carriers of the 5th stone and escort them to the top of Mount Talis. There, we will hold back Cain’s forces by all means necessary. Now we haven’t a lot of time, so I shall make this simplistic as possible. We will split up into two squads, alpha and beta. Alpha squad will consist of me, Koin, Zieo, Sever, Pulma, and Ramza. The other half will be in squad beta. Any questions, good! Then suit up, and gods speed.” Theidon spoke out.

Theidon walked over to meet squad alpha. “I don’t want any talk. I want to leave as soon as possible. Ramza, you were a blacksmith, correct?”

            “Yes sir”

“Good. I want you to go get your best swords and bring them to the stables. Sever, you were a chemist, correct?”

            “Yes.” Sever answered.

“Very well. Gather what potions you can, we will need it! The rest of you come with me. We will all meet in the stable in 10 minutes. Dismissed.” Theidon commanded as he started to make his way towards the stables with Koin, Zieo, and Pulma by his side.

Once at the stables, they waited but a couple minutes before Sever and Ramza arrived. They packed their horses and left for Mount Talis.

They rode from the Castle of Dalgor to the village of Quidom. From there they traveled to the base of the Mount Sukiwo. At the base, they stopped but in a small cave that looked to be abandoned. They set up camp for the night and rested by the fire in which Zieo had made. They set down their equipment and settled in for a nights rest. But Theidon felt there was something that was out of place. Though it seemed it only affected him, he paid no mind to his feelings.

Things seemed quite for hours when an unsettling vibration shook the ground. Theidon rose to his feet, followed by everyone else. Theidon cautiously walked closer, the turn and yelled, “Run!! Behemoth!!”

The group quickly started to ran behind Theidon as the beast grew closer. Finally, the group came to the edge of the cliff and turned.

“Well, here it comes….” Koin calmly announced

Zieo looked at Koin as if he had lost his sanity. Just as Zieo did this, the beast came charging out of the cave. Theidon wielded his sword and shield and braced for combat.

Theidon rolled to the right, thrusting his sword at the beast’s neck. Sever quickly ran out of the way and began to summon his magic. Koin dodged left and began to punch the stomach of the beast. Pulma evaded the beast’s attack and ran by Sever’s side. Zieo ducked under the beast and began to ram his ridged daggers into the beasts flesh.

The beast rammed Theidon, throwing him to the edge of the cliff. The beast swung and barely missed Koin, but in doing so hit Sever. Sever was smashed back into the cave, bleeding from his face and chest. Theidon got up and slashed the side the beast. Ripping and slashing, revealing the beast’s insides. Zieo continued to knife the beast but was soon trampled over. Pulma, who had barely dodged the beast’s attack summoned his magic and casted Firaga! Fire rose from the ground, burning and setting everything in its path a blaze. The heat was so intense that the others had to cover themselves with their shields. The blast hit behind the beast, sending the beast over the cliff.

The battle was over… but at what cost?
