  • Can you cancel a buff from command line?

    So I unlocked ninja the other night and spent some time looking over the Utsusemi mechanics. Most of the guides were about 5 years out of date so I'm hoping that there's something I've missed.

    To reapply Utsusemi:Ichi while Ni is still active it is required that you manually remove Ni before Ichi finishes casting. Is there a way to incorporate this into a macro?

    What I want is to ultimately have an Utsusemi:Ichi macro that goes something like this:
    /ninjutsu Utsusemi:Ichi <me>
    /wait 2
    /remove Utsusemi:Ni
    /echo Congrats, you removed Ni and Ichi was successfully applied

    Is there a way to do that in the vanilla client or am I going to be stuck manually removing it?

    Unfortunately without the use of Windower's SpellCast and Cancel plugins there's not really a way to do it that doesn't involve clicking it off manually.

      That's unfortunate. I was really hoping using shadows properly wouldn't have to be such an exercise in micro-management. Oh well, I'll just have to figure out how to do it manually I guess. Thanks for letting me know Callisto.

        If you use controller primarily it's a bit easier than on keyboard, it's just Y >Y > pick Utsu > B(Triangle > Triangle > X on PS). For keyboard on the numpad I believe it's + > + > Enter. The biggest difficulty is not accidentally clicking off your Haste or Protect.

          Ni cancel is not really that bad with some practice (on PC, plain-'ol POL/FFXI, with PS2 style controller). But, yes, I normally manage to click off my Protect about once every two to three hours when on PLD/NIN. Only accidentally lost Haste one time in the past year.

          yet not a mote of dust is stirred;
          Moonlight pierces the depths of the pond,
          leaving no trace in the water.

            ...or your Reraise. I've clicked that one off too many times simply by trying to switch my log view around.

              It takes some practice, but you'll get used to it eventually. Like mentioned before, just pay attention to your other buffs. I can't even count the amount of times that I go a buff or lost one just as I was about to cancel Ni. Goodbye Haste.

                The irritating part is when a buff wears as you're pressing and the whole line shifts under your cursor an instant before the cancel registers.
