Alright, got my new computer, and FFXI is on Steam for $11. Now, when I was doing the trial, I rarely came across a party, and I'm a party player in mmo's. So, are there a lot of newbies playing?

You should not have a terribly hard time getting a party, considering your server is automatically not-Odin-or-Bahamut. Level Sync only serves to make things easier.

I think one of the things that people need to realize is that parties do not just come to you anymore. You have to be more proactive and learn to build and lead your own. I can say that I hate making parties and I hate leading them. I'm in charge all day long and I like to sit back and let someone else be responsible for a few hours. But that usually leads to me complaining about sitting around seeking and not getting a party in a decent amount of time. Nowadays its much easier to exp solo in the lower levels though so I generally level to at least 25 before I party.

Also nowadays ppl like to party in the Past areas, around lvl 37 mostly, so you should try and get access to some of those areas as soon as you can. You don't have to, but lately that's all the lvl sync parties I've been invited to is East Ron. [S].

I've never had many issues getting parties. If you're playing a cooking-cutter key class like White Mage or a nice support class like Bard the invites come in steadily. There are some other classes that aren't always at the top of the list when people are looking for replacements or building a party from scratch. It's all relative; if you find yourself not getting parties in adequate time to your liking, build your own.

Also, I try my darned hardest to avoid Valkurm Dunes if I can help it; however these days you'll find a lot of parties getting PL'd in the Dunes/Qufim (if your into that kinda thing).
