UCS-5313 solutions

I have a Chase Mastercard, so I do not have the 3-D Secure with this card, and that is my only card. I bought FFXI a few days ago and gotten up to the error UCS-5313 a few times, and now I know what it is. I would like to know what my options at this point are. Besides getting a new bank or signing up for a credit card.

There IS another UCS-5313 thread here, but it was never really resolved and the last post was a few months ago.

also, i reccomend suing SE, especially if you bought a copy of the game from a store and it didn't have anything on the box about 3-d secure, or verisign.

How so? It's just regular text in centered format XD

And the box says on it:
"A valid Visa or Mastercard is required to set up an account"
It just doesn't specify exactly what a valid card would be. So I think I'd lose that case Arnold.

Don't post centered format on a public forum. People like reading left-justified text and if people don't want to read your posts, you won't get your questions answered. =)

On-topic, the only way to resolve this is to go with a bank that supports Verified by Visa and get a credit/debit card from them. There's no workaround for VbV unfortunately. Also, it isn't that hard to call VISA or your bank to find out if it's supported by VbV. Do a little legwork.

You have a mastercard that isn't supported by 3-D secure, so what? My post still stands. Your only option is to go with a bank that supports VbV or the mastercard equivalent.

I'm not trying to bash you.

SE is making this 3-D secure thing required to play the game, which means you need to have that code when registering to play the game. People are very angry over this for the same reason you are, but the sad thing is that you just need a card that supports VbV or the mastercard equivalent.

Prepaid cards do not work, as far as I know. The only other thing you could try to do is get your hands on a ps2 and ps2 copy of FFXI and register your character on there. People say that you don't need a 3-D secure card when playing on a console. That might've already changed though, so I'm not sure.

Not prepaid per say. They're refillable cards that work like a credit card, but has a limit you cannot go over and is refillable. The Visa one does have the Secure Pay thing. I'm not sure about the Mastercard one yet though.

I already have a PC version that I bought a few days ago, and since it's open, I cannot return it. That's EB games for ya. I do not have a PS2/PS3/Xbox360, nor would I want any of them. Most games that come out for the PS3/360 that I want to play come out on PC as well, and as for the PS2, there are emulators that let you play a PS2 game on your computer with the actual game disc.

And you are right, the console versions of the game do not require the Secure Pay, only the PC version does.
