How does one contact the GMs?

Forgive my ignorance, but as a new player I feel this is something pretty basic that I should know how to do, but I haven't found anything online or in the game's documentation telling me how to do this.

Happens more often than you'd think.

Either way, no big deal, we don't mind new players asking questions, as long as common sense is exercised. As long as you don't spam the forum with a million questions that can be easily looked up, it's cool.

FFXIClopedia will help you out a lot next time you're in doubt. As is the case with all wikis, the info there is not always accurate, but most of the time it is, and it covers almost everything about the game that a new player would want to ask about. Its search function is a bit bitchy though.

Could be worse, the first time I called a GM, I didn't know how to talk to him. I asked the linkshell "Uhhh, how do I talk to the GM?" the GM Replied "Just type /t (Name)"

I had to do a bit of searching the first time I needed it as well. The response time seemed fairly quick, though (20 mins). I'm not sure if that's the way it usually is since I've only paged a GM once.

Depends how many people are in front of you. Sometimes, it can take awhile for a GM to respond.

Yeah, when you sent a call it'll tell you "There are X amount of calls in front of you." I remember once it said that there were like 20 calls in front of me and then within 2 mins they took my call. There was another time when I placed a call and it said there would be 99 people ahead of me and I was on for almost 4 hours and they never took my call.

For the xbox you have to choose from a "valid" reason list to call a GM. Mostly anything you'd ever want to call one for isn't on the list. So, you'd have to choose the "my guy is stuck or can't move/game isn't working" option. After that, it will give a few more that could be more what you're looking for.
