  • Questions Please Read!

    To make it simple.

I have FFXI Rise of the Zilart, Chains of Promathia and Treasures of Aht Urhgan but for 360. Now this will sound dumb but I have not played FFXI in a looong time and I do have a older version for PC as well but the most recent I played was on 360 a looong time ago. Now I have forgotten if I was able to activate my PC account on 360 and just added the other 360 expansions onto it. So to be sure of myself I'll just ask, is it possible to use 360 accounts on PC vice versa?

I have gotten tired of WoW, I tried Warhammer and Age of Conan both of those were pretty lame and I recall having a lot more activity in FFXI player base and grouping.

My other question is how is this game right now compared to AoC, WAR and WoW? Please post a honest opinion with some effort on it, I really wanna see someone's good opinion. I do recall reaching the level where I could have a 2nd job so I think I had an 18 not sure. I guess only trouble I ever had was trying to get into groups at times and using 360 was kinda so and so. Now I have gotten a brand new pc works great with games and would love to maybe in a few months start up FFXI.

Are there still new players? How good are the patches/updates? And an honest estimate of how hard/easy it is to get groups while leveling in the lower brackets.

Is there any revive an old account offers available?

Thanks if someone responds to my noob thread,

    Re: Questions Please Read!

you can use your account on any system as long as FFXI is installed on it.

haven't played those other mmorpgs, but I'm sure if you are in a good FFXI server and stuff, things will feel as lively as ever.
I still see new players here and there. the patches and updates are good. Level Sync and Fields of Valor has vastly made partying and leveling up much better than ever before. how easy it is to find groups depends on people's efforts, whether they wait for invite or ask the leaders directly, could affect how soon they can get in a party.

I think the welcome home offer is currently going on, or maybe it past, not sure.

level sync basically lets anyone of any level sync to the member with the lowest level in the party (well actually you can sync to anyone, but it's better to sync to the one with lowest Level for optimal experience points gain.)

the party leader controls level sync. so if they sync to a level 10, a level 75 would become a level 10 as long as sync is active. and equipment is not a problem, a level 75 can wear their high level gear and their stats kind of balance themselves and adjust according to certain factors, but go back to normal after unsynching.)

this in turn allows more party options without needing very specific members with specific levels. if they are equal or greater level, they are good candidates as level sync party members. the only thing is that I heard you can't skill up during level sync (well there are exceptions cause I remember skilling up some.)

so basically, they virtually eliminates the level gaps people were having problem with. is someone 4 levels higher? no problem! if they level sync, they'll be the same level as the one the party is synched to. This opens up party possibilities in countless ways, and at least in my experience, finding and forming parties has become 80% faster and easier.

FoV is fields of valor, there is a book in certain areas like Dunes and Qufim. no quest required. players basically choose
a page, which requires specific number of specific mobs you gotta beat in that zone, to be awarded bonus experience points (600+). players can't choose another page until the next game day. completing a page also awards tabs, which are used to buy buffs found in the book, liek regen, reraise, food, etc. as well as the option to be warped to hometown.

even though you can only do one page a game day. say it takes you two game days to finish defeating the required number of enemies. you can still pick up a new page that day, since it's a new game day. the page registered is cancelled if you change jobs.

also to note, you desync from a Level Sync if you or the one who is the chosen Level Sync zones outside of the zone the players level synched in. also the leader can manually turn off level sync, but it requires 30 seconds to restore everyone to their original level. this is useful, because say if you have a high level in a level Sync party in like dunes, if a mob links and the party is in trouble, if they desync and get their original level back in time, they can defeat the mobs themselves easily, well that's if they are a high enough level when not synched (and if they have enough HP left by the time level sync wears.)

it sounds complex but Level Sync and FoV are really valuable. people can level up over 50 times in under a week if they
have enough free time and make use of level sync and FoV. even soloers and duoers have benefitted from level sync and FoV. Personally it's really made FFXI more bearable and fun. I've never advanced so much compared to the 2 years
I played! but of course, getting/starting good long lasting parties, and other factors, may vary how much you level up over time.

I could but I was a bit busy at moment, so posting a thread checking next day for a response was a lot easier.

About the PC -> 360 and back again. It sounds like you played the 360 last - if you want to play it on the PC you have to be sure the PC has all the expansions on it. If you only have Zilart for the PC you will be unable to access content from Promathia or Art Urhgan, even though your character has the content linked to it from your time playing on the 360.

As for skilling up while scyned- You can skill up still, as long as the skill you want to increase is below the level for the synced party. I was a 75 RDM with the sword skill of about a 30-35 lvl RDM because I never used the sword and my only other job over 40 was DRG. I synced with a friend to 57 and was able to skill up my sword with him. Although it didn't hit the cap for 57, if it had, I would have then stopped skilling up until I unsyned or the sync party hits another level.
