How do I cancel my account?

Anyway this isn't one of those "omfg I hate this game and want to die" threads, I've just been more interested in other threads lately.

My question is, how do I cancel my subscriptino, and what happens after I cancel my subscription? How long will my character remain on the ffxi server? What happens post-subscrption?

Well, to cancel it, you just go into the menu just prior to logging onto FFXI. You'll see a tab there labelled "Content ID", one of the options in that menu is "Cancel my Content IDs". Use that one, and tag out every one you don't want.


As for how long it takes... I don't know for sure. I've done it twice now, and each time I just stopped logging in afterwards. I'm told it's til the next billing cycle. Might be just the end of the month, I'm not sure.

After cancellation, you can still play with the character until the next billing period. Then the name is greyed out and that's that. As to what actually happens with your character data, only SE really knows.

Protip: do not delete your character; simply cancel the content ID so we don't have to listen to a bitch rant in a few months when you decide to start playing again.

Your character is guaranteed for 90 days. During that time, all you need to do is log in, update your payment info, and play. Past 90 days, they could delete your character. It's unlikely but since they only guarantee it for 90 days, you can't bitch if they do. Basically if they need space, they have to find it somewhere. I'm sure that deleting canceled characters is a last ditch effort for space but they will if they have to.

DO NOT CANCEL YOUR POL ACCOUNT. Your POL account is free so the only thing you should be canceling is your Content ID's.
