Yeah I edited my post, I don't mean us. We don't use the claim bots, we GM them fuck out of them though. Pretty obvious when you've got a level 12 WAR in DA what it's being used for, especially when it dies 2 seconds after claiming Faf.

Ya the bad thing is, they are separate accounts that get banned. They use gift cards and false info to pay for them so they never really do ban the real person behind the account. It aggravates the hell out of me.

Both of the Galka voke bots in DA have been there months and been GM'ed multiple times, but the GMs can't ever do anything because right after they claim and die they force d/c them. It's fucking stupid.

Ya people here call GM's ahead of time so the GM sees the bot log on and out at windows and eventually claim. Then they get banned and within a day or two another is back in its place. So either way, it doesn't matter.

You know honestly I've never seen a gil seller, or rmt or bot or w/e.

I think I saw someone get killed by bounty hunters in the secret beach once, but they had a cool name and were not lvl one if i can remember correctly. Maybe someone just made a bot with style. Of course I prolly have bought from a bot unknowingly, but still, never encountered the chains of bots people speak of lol.

I also don't understand why gil selling is illegal. I don't do it because of what people say and that you can get banned, but if someone guy makes an account, legitimately makes the money, via farming, or intense crafting, then sells the stuff to make money, and sell the money for monetary value, how is that illegal? He legitimately made the gil, and can sell it if he chooses....

Or do they somehow illegitimately make the gil? I never quite understood this

I don't understand HOW it "screws" up the economy. They bots legitimately MAKE the gil, its would be no diffrent if the person bought it "made" the gil instead of bought, regardless it has been legitimately earned, just sold afterward. I understand why its illegal, but still don't understand why it is a screw up. I would understand if the gil comes from no where and is being put into the market, like with our situation in america right now, but its not. It is earned and farmed legitimately.

There are a few reasons RMT is wrong, firstly, and most simply, it is against the ToS.

Secondly, the activities RMT companies use detract from normal player's experiences, for example, bot-claiming HNM for high-gil drops and taking a sufficiently powerful market position on those goods that they control the price. Another good example was bot-fishing where they abused the utility of sushi to take control of the market and make it unprofitable to compete with them.

The final part of the vicious circle is that people who buy gil will tend to use it (excepting relics) on drops the RMT companies are acquiring so that they retain eventual control of disproportionately large reserves of gil which, had the game been played normally, would be in player's hands.

And, despite a lack of credit, back a few winters ago the RMT did do to Vana'diel what Enron and modern banking is doing to the Earth. Fortunately I was a very new and just enjoyed getting 10k+ for a stack of fire crystals. Unfortunately, governments are having more trouble dealing with the problem than S-E do with banning RMT (and that includes buyers)

When the shit was hitting the fan back in the day, most of the gil was made from NPC's, so the RMT's were fishing up ton's of stacks of crap, or logging or mining, and then selling all that stuff to NPC's. so all that money that came into the ecomony wasn't coming from joe schmoe pld. It was coming from a NPC with unlimited funds. They didn't have to wait for the AH, and once they had 100 million gil, they could buy whatever they wanted on the AH, then re-sell it at 10x cost.
Not to mention that they were bot camping every NM that dropped anything of value. Leaping boots cost 2-3mil at one point. 2-3 million!? And they camped it 24/7. That's fixed now, but you see how it was "destroying the economy"?

Sure you could farm for 5 hours, get almost 8 stacks of bee's wax, and sell it all for almost 240,000 gil. that is, if you could beat out the RMT's that were also farming. It was ridiculus. you had to "buy gil" just to be able to function normally and have fun.

Nowaday's you can farm for 2-3 hours, and if you do it right, make enough money to afford food, meds, and put some gil in savings, for that haubergeon your wanting, for 2-3 days.

Shit, gil prices were like 3 million for 40 bucks at one point. Scorpion harness was 10-12 million gil!!! that shit was ridiculus!

Ahh ok, well explained. Vevau's part about the reserves and how they still owned the market cuz it was the money they sold that bought their items. I totally get it. FUCK RMT. Thanks doods!

You can feel and know that something like RMT is wrong, but I've never seen it that well explained.
