      TOON TOON TOONITY TOOOOOON.

There has to be a way to make it even more annoying for that certain segment of the population. Toonydiddums?

How do I get my toonydiddums to Windburst from Leviathan? I think I'm on the Bastock server.

            Re: n00b question about mules

Back on track of the OP...

I have two accounts. Two "main" characters and 8 "mules."

My first account houses my MAIN-main, which is Aksannyi. On that account, I hold four mules: Crystal storage mule, Rarely-used gear storage mule, Craftables storage mule, Mining/ore storage mule.

My second account houses my SECONDARY-main, which is Yamila. I don't play her nearly as often as I'd like since my PC broke, though. On that account, I hold four additional mules: Scrolls/craftables mule, Gardening mule, Secondary crystal storage mule, and More commonly used gear storage mule who also holds my Alexandrites.

I have two accounts for a variety of reasons, but the main one is being able to trade things to my other accounts, it saves me a ton of time instead of playing the delivery box game. I took my Alexandrite mule to Whitegate for that purpose. In my case, I can have more than one character logged in at a time, but only because I pay for two accounts. If you are only paying for one account, you can only have one instance of the game logged in at any given time.

              Re: n00b question about mules

Basically, the term mule implies a number of things that may or may not be true of additional characters on the same account. For reference, I have 6 characters on my account, none of them meet the strictest definition of 'mule' anymore, 3 of them meet some looser definitions, while 2 of them are more properly 'alts'

An additional character on your account can do almost anything that your main character can. It shares nothing with your main character aside from being on the same account (and only one account can be in use at one terminal, so it's impossible to use multiple characters simultaneously on one account). The distinctions worth noting is that your main character (the one on the first content ID) is the only one that can use a gold world pass, and you cannot cancel that character's content ID while retaining another character's content ID, IIRC.

A mule is, in its most strict definition, a level 1 character that does not actively pursue its own advancement, but is rather exploited for utility. The most common usage of a mule is for additional storage space, but they may also be utilized for crafting (particularly to get around the limit on craft levels above 60), buying and selling materials on the AH, having access to city vendors without having to travel, etc.

It is becoming more common, however, to perform more investment in mules or mule-like characters including leveling in various jobs.

Kumei is a main character, having a considerable amount of job, mission and craft investment, as well as occupying the first content ID slot.

Koren is an alt, occupying another content ID slot but having received enough job investment to have performed two Genkai quests as well as having craft and mission investment. She carries a small amount of overflow inventory for Kumei's sake, but most of her inventory is devoted to her own needs.

Mohryahu is a mule, although she has been leveled on a single job beyond level 5. Being the only character to have no job leveled to 10 or above, she is the closest to being a pure mule. She is used for excess inventory, primarily gear storage, as well as less commonly needed crafting items. She also serves as access to the San d'Oria AH and NPCs.

Myrna is a borderline mule. She is the only character fully equipped for Gardening, she has skill invested in Clothcraft, and nominally serves for Windurst access; however, she has been leveled to 20 on Black Mage and is approaching that level on White Mage; she has WotG access and spends much of her time now in Windurst Waters [S]. Most of her inventory is devoted to crafting and gardening items, with any gear she's not actively using generally being on another character.

Kirine is a mule, though she has a single job leveled higher than 10. Despite this most of the investments in her have been inventory-related, and she largely stores Alchemy and Smithing craft materials for Kumei's sake.

Nyamohrreh is a borderline alt, having had investment in leveling multiple jobs (three leveled above 10) and in obtaining ToAU and WotG access; despite job and mission investment, a good amount of inventory resources are devoted to gear muling for the sake of Kumei and Koren; this is a result both of overcrowding of inventories over time and of the fact that Nya sees less active investment than either Koren or Kumei.

                  Re: n00b question about mules

Its also good to have a TOON in each nation other then your starter. Get one high enough and take it to jeuno. SO at any given time, you can check all four ah for the best chance of getting the best prices or actually finding the item when you need to purchase something. You can get an ls member to run you to jeuno at lvl 1 hopefully.

Don't need an LS member to help you, if you're good at avoiding aggro you can do it by yourself (as long as you know the way, which I do) and you won't even need oils and powders.

                      Re: n00b question about mules

thats actually really cool. I tried this once and died.... many times, so I got the oils and powers and stuff and still died... horribly, that was before i knew about low life aggro. So then I just had an ls mate run me. And we farmed like 15 elementals along the way, and he gave me the clusters, it was pretty sweet lol.

This was back in the day tho, I think I could avoid aggro now, since I ran from kazham to norg with no maps or expereince, was my first run, and I never died.

Oils and powders are useless, they wear off immediately. First time I tried to get a lvl 1 to Jeuno I got them and thought it was a fluke but then someone in my ls decided to try it too so we both went together. (I died and hp'd.) Hell I'd see the "its wearing off" message before the "you gain the effect" message sometimes! LOL

                          Re: n00b question about mules

I was running a level 1 COR mule through Zi'Tah on the way to sky today (Kirin burns ... lol) and they were lasting a good 2-4 minutes. I wouldn't usually use them unless I'm going to travel through tight areas without much space to dodge shit, otherwise I just run freely around stuff.

Maybe they patched the items though, cause they weren't wearing. Spell totally does, but items lasted quite nicely.

The length of time is dependant on the magic skill level of the caster. Thats why low casters have low times.

Now with oils and powers, I've never had that happen. They always last 4+ mins, enough time to not wear off for a whole zone. I've bought stacks worth too, enough to actually learn alchemy and do my own.

I've did it with a variety of jobs, levels, areas, days, times, and YEARS. I ran to jeuno doing this maybe 3 years ago? And i did it for korrokla tunnel and altepea desert last week. Same effect.

Perhaps you were turning it off? Clicking on the buff and deactivating it? OR you were doing something to kick it off, battle or whatnot. Not sure but that is pretty gay. Sorry, but don't hate them, they do work, and they work quite well.
