  • Current XP Camps

I've finally got a few jobs/subjobs up to 30, and I''m readyy to move onwards. Only problem is, the camp guides I've checked out seem like they might be outdated since Level Sync has come along.

From what I understood, and what more than a few LS members have told me, Garlaige Citadel is the place to be post 30 until you go to Crawler's Nest. I checked it out today, and it was completely barren. I decided to do a search around the world and what do you know, everyone is in Valkurm, Qufim, or Yuhtunga. Immediately upon returning to Jeuno I got bombarded by requests for Level Sync parties from 20-25.

Now I like Level Sync, and I think it's a good thing- but it seems like maybe people are taking it too far. Having taken up WAR, NIN, and RNG through Qufim recently, I commonly Level Synced with 40+ players- it seems like noone wants to go to the old camps anymore. What sucks for me, is that I've got to carry around loads of equipment to adjust for different Level Sync levels so I'm not gimped. What concerns me even more is that I might get stuck XP'ing in Qufim until I'm ready to do AF quests and have no freaking idea how I'm supposed to play my job... not to mention being completely gimped in my skillups.

Is Garlaige still a used camp on your server? Any alternatives that have become more popular since Level Sync?
Meddle not in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

I have seen this as well, the "over use" of level sync, but Garlaige is not dead, trust me ;p

as leveling a job to 75, I want to avoid level sync as much as possible, but with my jobs that are already 75, I palce in comments "Level sync 10-74" because really at 75 you should be done skilling up anyway ;p

I never particularly liked Garliage, unless you bring a THF with Viper Bite. Anyway, depends on the people really. Sometimes I'll see the Dunes packed with level sync parties, other times its pretty empty. If your concern is playing your job after a certain level, just turn down level sync invites, or don't sync past a certain level gap.

Forgot to answer the question. When I was leveling NIN to subjob level, instead of Garliage I did the weapons camp on Sauromugue Champaign right near Jeuno. Sucks to tank as NIN cause of Whirl of Rage(although if you have superb timing you can run out of range as its readying the move) but it can be consistent pulls if noone decides to be a dick and level their NPC off of them.

        Re: Current XP Camps

Recently been in Garliage parties but not for 30ish, instead have been partying downstairs with higher 40-low 50 parties on whm. Though, everytime I go there it seems there's a party in the hallway so at least on our server its still used. Garliage's problem is that there's maybe 3 30ish camps you can squeeze out of it. I think people are actually starting to opt for the old-old school (pre-zilart) weapon camps in the areas around Jeuno as an alternative to GC and Altepa.

My biggest gripe with level synch is how gimp it makes your skills. Magic skills are hard enough to skillup without being capped all the time by Levelsynch.

Garlaige kills parties 'til everyone's 32 or so. From 32-36 (even 37 if you have a good party that kills fast), it's an amazing spot to be. Pretty much any combination of jobs can be made awesome there, but some stick out more than others. Basically, anything that can close a powerful fusion (which is to say... monks) or anything that does piercing damage.

The reason it's typically such an amazing camp spot is because everyone hates it (bad memories from a time when the game was less forgiving) therefore, no competition.

On Bahamut, the shit-a-del is always packed, we usually level there from 32-37 at the first Banishing Gate, best spot to lvl IMO. Never is it totally un-camped. The basement is packed too, but for obvious reasons

              Thanks for the tips...

I guess I'll need to go check out Altepa, I haven't been there yet b/c I'm still a lowbie, but I suppose its time.

32 is too low for Garlaige. Lowest level for Garlaige for a DD should be 34 in my opinion. Lower than that and your performance will suck pretty badly.

Dispel is of critical importance for beetles though. If you don't have someone with Dispel or a good/smart WAR using Shield Break, your kill speed is going to slow down to a crawl every time they use Rhino Guard. Same thing applies to Crawlers a few levels later (except for Cocoon the non-Dispel alternative is Acid Bolts.)

I don't like the Banishing gate. With a crew of experienced (read: has silent oil) players, just sneak straight down the 1st hallway (requires you to dodge into the room on your left to get around a hole in the floor) and camp at the intersection. There's a spawn point on one of those sides but no biggy. But the entrance works just as well. No need to get tricky.

Maybe you like lots of gear for different levels, or maybe you missed the part where equipment automatically syncs down with level sync. No need to manually adjust for equipment except for pieces that are superior at that level.

I'm gonna assume at 32-34ish you were fighting bats @ the banishing gate and then beetles 34-37ish.

I've always leveled in Garliage 32-37, but that was on 3/4 lvl 37+ jobs and before level sync. I started really leveling BLU right before the Level Sync update and ended up getting to skip GC since I duo'd with a friend for a few levels and level sync'd down for a few levels in a LS party after level sync came out. In prior parties, the only time we went to the banishing gate was if we were gonna fight mainly beetles and few bats.

It's possible to go in at 32 but it's not worth it unless the rest of your party is 34+ (and even then, although the EXP/hour won't be bad, the level 32 player is still technically slowing them down unless it's a BRD or something like that.) The mobs are simply too high for a level 32 player to be effective against, especially if they're beetles. The increased EXP from going in at 32 isn't going to outweigh the slow kill speed.

I know that gear syncs down, however, I also thought that any positive attributes you received went out the window when you sync'd down. Just for example, I'll mention the lv 14 + stat rings- Normally you'd get AGI +4 from a pair of Reflex rings, but if you sync down to say, 12, no AGI bonus shows up. Now this could simply be a case that SE isn't displaying a stat bonus when you're still recieving it- if that's the case then I think a lot of people, myself included, have been misinformed.

But when I was leveling in Elshimo jungles I'd have my archer's knives for 28+ parties, and then different daggers for sub 28 parties- as well as R.ACC + arrows because It really seemed like I was losing that +20 R.Acc when I sync'd down below 28 and Silver Arrows just weren't cutting it without those bonuses.

Did SE ever publish an article with explicit details of how stat bonuses an whatnot are handled with level sync?

Most people tend to stick around Altep 'til 34 or something. I think that's silly as Dhalmel suck and it's overcamped all the time. So it's one of the few times I don't mind the overhunt. More than anything, it's just better than being anywhere else.

Your stats will be sync'd to whatever you can get with NQ gear for that level. Besides the national level 1 rings, you can't get any +stats in the ring slots at level 12. In short, you won't gain bonuses you can't normally gain.

If you were to equip Jadeite Rings (Level 54 AGI+3) at level 14-35 you would gain 1 AGI per ring because that's what you get out of NQ rings at that level.

Likewise, stuff like Spike Earrings (5 Attack) would scale down to NQ beetle earrings (Attack +2 each) at 21.
