    Question about my PlayOnline account!

    ok, here's my problem.

    a couple weeks ago, i started FFXI with the 30 day free thing, the one that costs 2 dollars. and just the other day, i get a birthday gift, which was the Final Fantasy XI VANA'DIEL Collection 2008 addition. now, here is my problem....
    i already used my Credit card on the 30 day free one, which came with the first 3 expansions apparently...but that's not the problem.
    Is there a way i can cancel my subscription on the 30 day free one, so that i can use my credit card again for the one i got for my birthday? It wont let me enter my card number again, cuz its already in use.
    If anyone can help me, it would be much appreciated.

    (basically, i need to find out how to cancel my PlayOnline Membership, so that i can start a new one with my new code)

    Don't need to sign up for POL again.

    Use the disc(s) that came with the '08 collection to install the expansion pacs you do not have, make sure you register them in Content ID section of the FFXI top page, and you're good to go.

      ok, that should work...
      would i still be able to use the code for the FFXI game that came with it, even if im using a different code for the PlayOnline?
      and, i suspended my other account, so that i can make a new one...but i don't think i can use the same credit card twice. Would i be able to use the card again if i suspend the Final Fantasy stuff for the free disc?

      i just got this game and i want to use it, this way i'm not waisting much of it.

      (my question here is that can i still use my Credit Card to register the other FFXI account, and if not, how i can get rid of the one i have now to make another account)

        Unless you want to specifically have two FFXI accounts, I don't see the need to cancel the first one you created. It doesn't work like that.

        The 2008 Collection you got is nothing more than the files needed to install POL, FFXI, and the expansions it comes with. After that, the same POL account you created before you had the '08 collection will still work just as it had before. If you have a content ID with a FFXI character attached to it, it'll still work just as it had before. There's really no need to suspend, deactivate, or create any accounts.

        Simply open POL, click add member (if your original POL account isn't there), and there you go.

        p.s. AFAIK, at the end of the free trial you started with, it will automatically begin billing you for subsequent months. Hence, there's no action needed with your credit cards to use the '08 collection.

          Ameroth, you seem pretty knowing of POL ways. How long can I keep my account suspended before they erase it? Its probably been since February...

            Your POL account never expires unless you cancel it. Since it's free, there is no real reason to ever do so. So as long as you just cancelled your Content ID's, I think you are fine.

              More specifically then, will I ever loose any of my stuff/characters/etc...? Because that's what I meant. So, I can just start up where I left off at any time then? Sweet.

                No, Content ID's and your POL ID are 2 entirely different things. Since you said "POL ways" I thought you meant your POL account.

                If you just cancelled your Content ID's then there could be a couple of different scenarios. After 6 months (I believe), they don't guarantee your characters to be there if you try to reactivate. There is only a certain amount of guaranteed time where you can input your cc info and just log back into your characters like you never left. (It used to be 3 months but I know they extended that at some point because people complained.)

                If its after that, then you may have to contact them and see if they deleted them or not. They keep the info on their servers for a finite time and after that if they need room they randomly delete old info. Because its random, your account info could be 1 year old and be deleted but someone who's been gone for 3 years might still have it there.

                  Yes. Almost all data about your characters are stored on the servers so you could uninstall FFXI, buy a new computer, reinstall FFXI, and reactivate your account and play.

                  p.s. yeah, what TGM said about the POL ID and content ID. Two different IDs.
