    How does one take a screenshot?

    Hello everybody.

    I would like to know how you take an in-game screenshot. I have seen many funny and beautiful ones on the official website and I would like to enter a few myself (if I can get the right scene).

    You can look in the settings menu for the keybindings, but I believe the default keys are [ and ]. One for hiding the UI, the other for taking the screenshot. Then you can find it in POL (to get it to a reasonable place, use POL's email to send it to yourself as an attachment).

    Or use a program like Fraps or Clipper or something, though I don't know if those are accepted for submissions on the official web site.

      The POL site requires the screen shot to be taken with the game software (so it has the copyright info) and with /names off so you can't see who everyone in in the shot.
      I use a Mac because I'm just better than you are.

        For PC without any 3rd party tools I believe it is Scrol Lock then Prt Scrn.

          If you want to take screenshots with text on windowed FFXI, the best thing I've found is to open a calculator, and drag it down so you cannot see it on the screen. Then, alt-tab to it and press screenshot. For some reason jsut using screen shot doesn't work with FFXI, even in windowed, and I find prepping this before I start playing easier than dealing with something like fraps.

            Thank you for all your answers....I failed to mention something though...I'm playing FFXI on XBox 360...how do I take screenshots then?

              The keyboard commands should still work, I think.

              Back to clear the screen, right bumper for copyright, right trigger to take the shot.

              I don't own a 360 to test it or anything, I just searched the forum and found that in several threads.
