Re: Help, Character textures are messed up

Couple of things you can try. Firstly set your Windows Automatic Updates so that they download but they don't gat applied automatically (Control Panel -> Security -> Windows Update -> Change settings). This will let you catch the driver update when it is downloaded qand decline to install it, you can also set it to not ask about that update again in future so you can then revert to automatically applied updates if you want.

Second thing, once you have deleted your current driver and it reboots, try interupting this (F8 I think) and choosing to reboot in safe mode. You should be able to apply your update from there.

Finally, don't try to apply the driver through the installer package that it comes with as this isn't set up for the Inspiron 1525 because the mechine is more recent than the driver. Grab the notes on how to apply the driver manually and try it that way. It does work, I've been playing on my 1525 ever since I got the driver installed, just persevere and follow the steps in the instructions.

Has anyone found anything for 64bit? I'm guessing this is my issue...

:EDITED ON Friday, April 10 2009:

A friend of mine found a link on intels site that has the 64 bit version downloadable.

You go to Intels main page

click downloads under work section. (takes you to a new window)

Select "Graphics" on the left side
          Select "laptop graphic contollers"
Select "Mobile Intel 965 express chipset family" (takes you to a new window)

Just select the OS and go from there. As of last night they did have the vista home premium for downloading. I am not sure for the othe other os downloads.

          Hope this helps out!

Re: Help, Character textures are messed up

I have just installed Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit on my Inspiron 1525. There is an important update for the Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family which was released in June 2009 and I'm happy to say that the FFXI graphics problem does not exist with this driver.

I'll keep the old Vista driver up on my site for anyone who still needs it but Windows 7 has just madelife a whole lot easier.
