Re: help,, i have no clue what to do..
You'll have to pick up a USB keyboard or hybrid keyboard controller for 360.
As for where to go and what to do next, what job are you playing and which nation did you start in, additionally, which server are you on?
Your story will be somewhat influenced by how you start, but some of it is also depends on your level and your nation. There is a FF-quality story here, but given that we're talking about an online game here, you're not going to get that story in spades right off the bat.

Re: help,, i have no clue what to do..
Ok so you're a hume warrior from Bastok on Bahamut, maybe someone here can help get you an linkshell (FFXI's version of a guild chat).
You can wander about the town picking up some quests, some of which will tie in with your nation's story, others not so much. Talk to the guards near the gates and you can pick up a status buff called "Signet" and also pick up your early missions for Bastok from another guard there.
Signet is an important and useful buff. It gives you a small defense and evasion bonus against even match mobs, allow you to conserve TP while you rest and also earn you conquest points for every monster you kill while it is active. You can turn around and spend these points with the gate guards for various weapons and items.
As you collect loot, put them up in the Auction Houses located in Bastok Markets and Bastok Mines. This is your primary way of making gil for the time being, but you can extend your options by crafting once you have a little money stowed away. Zinc and Iron Ores from worms around Bastok do pretty well for money.
As you reach levels 10-12, head out to a place called Valkurm Dunes for your earliest parties and see if you can't find a friend or linkshell member to help you along that journey.

Re: help,, i have no clue what to do..
Always use the weapons your job has the highest skills in. For DRK, that means both a Scythe and a G.Sword with (usually) more of an emphasis on the Scythe.
But you're a while off from that still. By the time you unlock DRK, you'll have a much better idea as to what you're doing.
wha..so... there is no main quest just... missions and quests.. so just kill stuff..
But you're level 6. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to level up. This means killing things.

Re: help,, i have no clue what to do..
Most of the stuff you'll get will sell better at the Auction House.
Note, however, that you should be careful when buying gear - very low level equipment can often be a lot cheaper at NPC shops than at the AH. Somepage has very convenient Item and NPC search features, so you can look up all the vendors in Bastok, or search an item to see if there's any NPCs that sell it. It's a little bit out of date (they haven't included stuff relating to the latest expansion, Wings of the Goddess) but for searching for low level gear and common drops, it'll do the job just fine. There's also FFXIClopedia, whose search feature isn't as quick and convenient, but it's very up-to-date and also very useful.
As a Dark Knight you'll want to use both weapons to be the best you can be.

The Auction House. Go there and target the window and click. The menu will pop up and you will want to buy and then go to weapons. Choose the weapon you are interested in and bid on it. Check the Bid History on the one you are interested in so that you know how much most people are paying for it and then bid around that price.Originally posted by FebaBut I mean I do not mind a good looking man so long as I do not have to view his penis.Originally posted by TaskmageGod I hate my periods. Re: help,, i have no clue what to do..
Don't go buying a Great Sword just yet though. As a Warrior, your best weapon BY FAR (and I really mean it, by far) will be Great Axes. And, I know you want to be a Dark Knight, but you should play each job independently and as best as you can. Many new players make the mistake of trying to play WAR like a gimped Dragoon, Paladin, or Dark Knight, and end up having a very poor performance in parties as a result.
Trust me on this one, pick up a Great Axe ASAP if you're already Level 5 or higher, and always use Shield Break as your Weapon Skill of choice (ignore Iron Tempest completely.)
I'm not saying this to discourage you from asking questions, but FFXIClopedia is a great general resource, it has info on just about everything you could possibly want to know about the game. When in doubt, it'll save you a lot of time to check there first.

Re: help,, i have no clue what to do..
I'd hate to disappoint but unfortunately, Dark Knights barely cast for damage. As a matter of fact, they don't cast much at all save for a small handful of debuff/draining spells.
If you're looking to be a powerful damage dealer that makes heavy use of both normal melee damage and casting, Blue Mage is probably more up your alley.

DKR/WAR for most of your leveling.
Don't marry yourself to any job yet. You might find you don't like what you were hoping to play.
