  • Translating JP POL to English

I have a JP account but play ffxi on NA client.

Is there a way to have the JP POL display English text since I can't read Japanese?

Whenever I need to change billing information, for example, I have to open the JP POL and basically guess my way through the menus.

I'm not interested in being able to type in JP or seeing ingame translation like in most of the other threads with similar subjects.

Verified that this does make some parts of POL show up in English (including pretty much the entire pre-login screen) but once you're logged in, menu options and the Service & Support section are still in JA, so it's probably not that much help.

Re: Translating JP POL to English

        Tx for the input.

I currently have both JP and NA POL installed on my computer. I also have NA ffxi client which I use to play the JP account.

If getting the JP POL to display English text is a dead-end, are there alternative ways to achieve the desired effect?

For example, are there screenshots of all the various screens of the menu options with translations noted on them? This would seem to be something of a last resort.

Is there a way to convert the JP account to an NA account so that I could just use NA POL? From what I've read, I probably already know the answer to this question.

On a side note, is there a contact email for JP SE customer service reps in Japan that can speak English? I haven't needed to contact SE about a problem with my JP account but if a problem arises, I would have great difficulty with my account since I can't speak Japanese. I'd like to find out if there is someone or a department in JP SE that could assist me with a JP account that can speak English.

        Tx again.

Re: Translating JP POL to English

The Japanese customer service center stopped supporting English-language help requests when the North American customer service center opened at NA FFXI launch. If you have a Japanese account, the American service center won't help you with it, and the Japanese one requires you to use Japanese. Account conversion/transfer isn't possible, you have to start a completely new account to have one for a different region. If you have both PlayOnline Viewers installed, you can just screenshot the screens in the American one and then call up those screenshots while using the Japanese one, as the menu layouts are the same.

There used to be a bunch of screenshot guides up on this site with translations written on them, but those guides seem to have been taken down in 2004 or so.
