        Re: lvl up

Yes, Easy Prey only give limited xp, but when you are solo, it is better than nothing. Level 1-10 are generally assumed to be solo levels on any job.

Also, please try to use the search function, that little button in the top-right corner. It will answer a lot of the questions you have been asking.

As a general tip for your XP-gaining adventures from here on out: do not fall prey to Big Stupid Number syndrome. XP/mob doesn't matter; XP/hour does. If it takes you five minutes to kill an Even Match for 100 XP, or one minute each to kill five Easy Prey that give you 25 XP each, you're better off with the Easy Prey. This applies to parties as well; if your party can take down Incredibly Tough mobs quickly, go for it. But they might be better off killing more Toughs or Very Toughs in the same time for higher XP chains.

            Re: lvl up

It's not so much how much you get per kill, as how much experience points you get per hour of killing. If it takes a long time to defeat a monster which gives "good exp", and takes just as long to rest and heal back HP/MP, you'd have to ask if defeating a few "Easy Prey" or "Decent Challenge" critters in the same amount of time would net you better exp or not. Worse, what if you're K.O.'ed during a hard fight? You'd be getting negative experience points.

It's about balancing risk versus reward versus down time.

Level 1-10 is a tough grind but also a time of growth and learning. Just keep killing monsters and learning how to not die.

Agreed....... whats the point of fighting a mob or two for 150 exp and then resting when EP can be massacred nonstop for more mp/per hour. Sometimes big things come in small packages =)

                  Re: lvl up

The main drawback from fighting only EP is the lack of skill up, but if your skills are already capped from previous jobs then go right ahead and slaughter all the little bunnies.

                    Re: lvl up

To be fair, at very low levels, for many jobs, EMs and Ts are actually viable, though you want to be cautious on the Ts certainly.

I'd point you to Zeruhn Mines, a lot of people ignore it, but it has a lot of mobs in a good level range to push through levels 1-4 fairly quickly. Stick with Ding Bats and Tunnel Worms until level 3, then you may be able to start taking Mouse Bats, but be careful, some of them are pretty tough.

Also, you don't get an xp penalty for dying until you hit level 4, so if your home point is nearby, you don't have to worry too much about overreaching during your first three levels.

Once you hit level 5, you should head outside to look for better prey. Also, you probably can't take Ts and many jobs can't take EMs past around this point, so be careful. By the time you're approaching 10, you'll be sticking to higher EPs at most, though a lot of jobs get key bonuses at level 10 that help a bit.
