  • Sea question.

    Greetings,

    I just recently got Sea access and have been looking into activities there so I can be prepared. I am on 8-1 and it sounds like until I pass that, I dont have access to Grand Palace of Hu'Xzoi or The Garden of Ru'Hmet. So my question is: how much Sea stuff is based just out of Al'Taieu? Looks like some jailers are, and Limbus shouldnt be a problem. I just dont want to be doing some event and have my party go zone someplace I cant yet go >.>;

A few of the jailers are in Al'Taieu proper, however, the lower level trigger NMs are all in the Garden or Palace. Other then that, there isn't much to do in there. If you have blm levelled then you'll want access for sea organ farming for Obis.

Honestly, even if you can't get a group together for 8-2 through 8-4, I would strongly recommend finishing 8-1. The Tavnazian Ring is earned after that mission and it is one of if not the best COP reward in my opinion.

(Quick note - we should probably move this thread to the World Areas section)

There's quite a bit to do in Al'Taieu actually, from Limbus to organ farming. Accessing the Palace, and eventually the Garden of Ru'Hmet, will allow you to participate in some of the sea trigger NMs and gods (Jailers) that are spawned and have trigger items that drop in those areas.

The best way to learn the area is to do the map quest, which involved talking to the 20 Quasilumun in the main section of Al'Taieu. Take care though, since exploring the zone can be a little tricky - Phuabo (Sharks) aggro from below, Yovra (UFOs, tho I like to call 'em Metroids) drop on you from above, and the Hpemde (Fishies) follow you around, but don't attack unless you damage them. Oh yeah.. Aerns might reraise when you kill them.

You can avoid aggro by staying against the walls whenever walking on the water areas, and by keeping your camera view at 3rd person and angle it upwards a bit.
Here's a list of stuff you can do in the various areas of Lumoria. Before you take on a Jailer, I highly recommend reading up on the various strategies for fighting them, and put together a good alliance.

Al'Taieu: You can farm organs from the various mobs here, either to sell (HQ organs) or for the quest In the Name of Science. CoP Mission 8-1 is also done here at the three Rubious Crystals - bring an Alliance for these fights. You will also find the Aw'Euhvi NMs in the areas to the north (accessible from the three main teleport crags) - they drop the colored cards required to enter Apollyon or Temenos.

        NMs:
Jailer of Justice (Xzomit NM with babies) : F-11
        - Forced pop from Second Virtue, Deed of Moderation, and HQ Xzomit Organ
        - Drops Fourth Virtue, Justice Torque and Justice Sword
Jailer of Hope (Phuabo NM) : D-9
        - Forced pop from First Virtue, Deed of Placidity, and HQ Phuabo Organ
        - Drops Fifth Virtue, Hope Torque and Hope Staff
Jailer of Prudence (Hpemde NM x2) : L-8
        - Forced pop from Third Virtue, Deed of Sensibility, and HQ Hpemde Organ
        - Drops Sixth Virtue, Prudence Rod and Prudence Torque.
Jailer of Love (Yovra NM with babies): K-12
        - Forced pop from Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Virtues
        - Drops Love Halberd, Love Torque, Auras of Adulation and Voracity (Novia/Novia Earring items)
Absolute Virtue (Aern NM with pets)**: K-12
        - Random chance of automatic pop a few seconds after Jailer of Love is defeated.
        - Has a lot of potential drops, if you can beat it.
** If your group beats Absolute Virtue, you become a FFXI legend.

        Grand Palace of Hu'Xzoi:
The extremely long and tricky CoP Mission 8-2 occurs here, including the fight against Ix'Ghrah. You'll find the agressive Ghrah and Euhvi mobs here and in the Garden of Ru'Hmet, which you can farm to get organs and triggers. Also there's the Zdei mobs here, a sort of super-pot that aggros and blocks certain types of damage from one moment to the next.

        NMs:
Ix'Aern (MNK) : Forced pop at G-7 or I-7, basement level
        - Drops either Deed of Placidity or Vice of Antipathy (Merciful Cape item)
Jailer of Temperance (Zdei NM) : Pops after killing placeholders at H-4, C-8, L-8, J-13, OR F-13 on main level
        - Drops First Virtue, Temperance Axe and Temperance Torque.

        The Garden of Ru'Hmet:
In this zone you have the CoP 8-3 BC fight against the Ix'Zdei, and the long trek up the towers to the Ebon Panel before your final fight against Promathia in Empyreal Paradox.

        NMs:
Ix'Aern (DRG with 3 BRD pets) : Popped by building hate from killing Aerns at G-8, I-8, G-10 and I-10 on the second level
        - Drops Deed of Sensibility or Vice of Aspersion (Astute Cape Item)
Ix'Aern (DRK with two RNG pals) : Popped by building hate from killing Aerns at F-8, J-8, F-10 or J-10 on first level
        - Drops Deed of Moderation or Vice of Avarice (Altruistic Cape item)
        - If you get no drops the NM will reraise; can reraise up to 25 times.
Jailer of Faith (Euvhi NM) : forced pop from HQ Euhvi Organ, in one of the five towers on the third floor
        - Drops Third Virtue, Faith Baghnakhs and Faith Torque.
Jailer of Fortitude (Ghrah NM with 2 pets) : forced pop from 12 Ghrah M Chips, in one of the five towers on the third floor
        - Drops Second Virtue, Fortitude Torque and Fortitude Axe.
