Server Choice

    Server Choice

    Alright, it's time for me to start. I'm going to be a Taru Taru redmage, and I need to choose a server. I'm going to be playing from around 8-10am pacific time, and 8pm -1am pacific time. I want a server with a lot of people that will be able to help me out (meaning just people around to talk to and party with).

    So... Without meaning to cause any arguments, which servers out there should I join? I really want one with lots of people to party with, as the last time I played this game (for like 3 days) there was nobody around, and that's why I quit.

    The server populations are pretty much the same across the board. The only suggestion that I feel qualified to make is Kujata, where you could join the Dreams in Vanadiel Linkshell.

      Sev will post any moment now telling you to come to Kujata.

      I can't speak to most servers, but there have been discussions over the years about the populations and culture of various servers; these are too numerous to point to individually, but hopefully search should help in this regard.

      I'm on Midgardsormr, due in large part to an RP-friendly culture (I've heard about RPers being harrassed outright pretty often on some servers, it's pretty rare on Midgard). Midgardsormr isn't the most populous server from my understanding, but it's not small.

              um, this is what I meant by starting an argument... I'm asking for recommendations for a server to join, and he's making that recommendation. Don't make me a part of your holy war over whoever sev is and why he quit these forums...

                No. But this guy has been posting around the forums all week, and he seems level headed, and the sort of person I'd like to be in a linkshell with.

                    You really need to lighten up if you think that was an argument. You'll be much happier in Vana d'iel if you grow a thicker skin.

                      Well, I'm not even officially part of the LS. So I'll pick up some of the slack, but I can't guarantee that I'll be as unilaterally welcoming as Sev was. XD

                        Heh. I haven't been following the drama threads any more so it's the first I've heard of Sev leaving...

                        Most people are only going to feel qualified talking about servers they've been on, and the majority of people have probably only been on one server. I've actually been on two -- Midgardsormr and Remora -- but I left Remora before I reached dunes levels due to not being able to devote the time and resources to establishing myself there. However, there are a number of individual posts where people have discussed what things are like on their server. You might want to try doing searches on individual server names and see what kind of results you get. Aside from that, you may want to post more specific questions about the kind of environment you're looking for.

                          Most Worlds ("servers") are more or less the same as most other Worlds. I advocate picking one based on how it sounds, or just go random. =b

                          In truth, who you hang out with in game will affect your experience more than which server you landed on. I'm sure every server has its share of good and bad people, so just take some time and care to find a good group.

                            I've been on Seraph, Asura, Fairy, Bahamut, Fenrir, Carbuncle, Alexander, and Valefor. I wish I could say that my experience on each server was different, but it so wasn't.
