Preparing Update....(file move problems)

had some issues with install on one of our boxes. decided that instead of waiting for another 3+ hours of downloading we'd try file moving. if anyone has more insight on this i'd love to hear from you. i think we MIGHT be ok now, but it still seems to want to do the 17k file check, and while that already takes upwards of half an hour, it might error after that...and we're back where we started.

so. is there some trick to moving folders for this game, aside from the obvious POL stuff involving login information? or some sort of workaround for the heinously long file scan it feels the need to perform?

I am not the most informed, and I am might be wrong, but I think the file scan is turned on/off in the registry, and thus can't be stopped by a file copy. I say this to indicate that there is no way around it, I am NOT suggesting you mess with your registry.

I read somewhere that you can simply Export the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\SquareEnix\PlayOnlineUS registry folder on the originating machine and Import it on the target machine. There may be some other important details, but try searching the web for it.

actually yea we got the problem fixed last night, i don't know why i got that link message when i said just that. odd.
