  • Online Registration Code Purchasing

I recently got back into playing FFXI, after nearly a year of not having played. I left just about half a month before ToAU came out. Back then I was playing the "Vana'diel Collection" edition, which had both RoZ and CoP on the same DVD with FFXI itself.
Just now I read about being able to purchase registration codes in the POL viewer, and was wondering: will I be able to access the ToAU content if I register it, while not having installed it using installation discs?
To my best knowledge, FFXI already had the ToAU content installed when I patched it after initially installing it.

TL;DR version: Can I purchase a registration code through the POL viewer and play ToAU without actually owning it on a CD/DVD?

No you need the software to get into the areas. My brother got the Urgan expansion with Xbox 360 and when logging in on my computer which didn't have it at the time it prompted that the software was needed for access, but otherwise let him in to the rest of the content normally on my PC. When I finally got around to installing my own copy then we could both access through my computer.

Yeah like Theyaden said no, when downloading the files you will notice when you go to My computer and find the POL files that ToAU has .dat files. The only files of FFXI that are uploaded is the update files so when you need to update your POL viewer can easily access and add to your files on My computer.

No game files online, not enough bandwidth for that kind of access lol.
