1) Server matters only if you have friends in a specific server and/or want to avoid other players (for instance people never wants to go to Fenrir thanks to Feba ).

I haven't been elsewhere, but Ifrit isn't that bad. >_> I made quite a few good friends there, and if I ever go back to FFXI, no other world would be considered.

If you avoid people with tendency for drama, you'd find less drama... If you're not careful about the company you keep, you'll likely be unhappy no matter which server you play on.

The number one thing which influences your in-game experience is your Linkshell, and my gut feeling says there are good and bad Linkshells on every server.
