merit weapon before its capped?

This is my 3rd faq post in like 3 days.. wth.. anyway,

I have 10 merits I want to pump into scythe as I am looking to start using meat @ merit camps asap. My question is this: Im currently not capped @ scythe since hitting 75 (I cant be more than like 1 or 2 points away) will raising my skill lvl now hurt or actually help me finish that cap?

A friend said he thought it would actually help, as I would have the higher acc due to meriting to help hits mobs, therefore cranking out those last few skill up points.

Im worried that by raising the lvl before its capped, it will actally slow me down, as now the skill points wont react the same way to the types of mobs Im fighting.

Perhaps Im worried, and it really doesnt matter as most mobs are VT low IT for meriting anyway, and it will boost my skill to max reguardless of this or not.

Just take the time to cap out your weapon and then pump those merits into them. It should not take that long to acquire the couple extra points.

You have made it all the way to 75, a couple of points to hit cap should not be that difficult.

Adding merits now will help you now because your skill will raise (thus raising your acc/att). However your cap will remain the same either if you choose to cap skill before or after adding merits.

Say your skill caps at 276 but your current skill is only 260, if you add 4 Scythe levels then you'll be at 268 but you will still need 16 levels to cap your skill regardless.

You can add merits to a skill before that skill is capped. I've done it with Sword.

I don't think the question was if it was possible, just if it would speed up or slow down the skillups to cap out the skill.

In that regard, are merits like crafting skill+? If so, then it would defiantly help -- with crafting skill+ gear (gloves, glasses, aprons), the success rate (accuracy) is based on your skill and any modifiers, such as skill+ and synth support, in regards to the cap of the synth you are trying to make. However, skillups are determined only by your skill, not by any modifiers. So, for example, a 68+2 crafter can synth a level 72-73 synth with a higher success rate than a 68+0 crafter, but both will receive skillups at roughly the same rate.

Last time I checked (and common sense would tell me), putting Merit Points into a Weapon's Skill does NOT count as a Skill Up.

So, if you put Merits in to it before you with the Skill Cap, you'll still get Skill Ups, even if they put you beyond the cap, to where the Merit would have put you if you had been capped already.
