I have been at lvl 30 for a while trying to get money through mainly farming to get the equipment I need among other things. I was wondering what is the best way to get the most gil the fastest at this level. I prefer farming mainly but if theirs a significantly and maybe easier way that would be good also lol. I am in the server Phoenix if that helps any. Thanks for the help!

Re: Best way to get gil at lvl 30
I think that BLU can do *some* BCNMs, but I'd be hard pressed to tell you which ones BLU are useful in, especially BCNM 30, which I've never done. However, if you have some good friends you can rely on and if you read up on good strategies, you have the potential to make some gil that way.sigpic

Check your server market. Some of the items that monster tend to drop alot are beehive chip, honey, wild onion, ram skin (not recommended if you can't turn them into leather) and so on. I think those were the stuff I farmed when I was around that level.

Re: Best way to get gil at lvl 30
Tips for making money I have gleaned so far:
- Never rely on just one way of making money, find a few good ways and switch between them depending on the market and your mood. ^ ^
- Have at least one mule in Jeuno, I know it’s a faff getting it there but once you have done it everything else becomes much easier.
- Reading around (mobs, drops, areas, crafting etc) is invaluable.
- Keeping an eye on the market is invaluable.
- Generally speaking, at lower levels, selling consumables and ingredients for other things will beat trying to sell end products in terms of profits.
- FFXIAH – look at this site.
- Waste nothing. If all else fails you can almost always sell it to an NPC or turn it in on a quest.
I know I have talked about this before somewhere but I can't remember where so I will say it again. The best low level, job independent way I have found to make money is to HELM and combine it with some low level crafting. It’s great for new players because you can do it in low level areas and it’s not an expensive way to make money (low investment required). The site I would recommend you look at for HELM information is this site. The maps give a good idea of the areas you want to look for harvest points in.
The two things I would say about HELM is that the first time you go out you will break a LOT of tools, that calms down pretty quickly and that if you like it then it’s definitely worth investing in the level 1 harvest gear (the level 15 set I think is overpriced for apparently nothing more than a bit of extra defence that you shouldn’t really need). Most people who HELM agree that the gear doesn’t improve what you harvest directly (It doesn’t seem to make a rare drop more likely) but it noticeably lowers the amount of tool breaks you get (so more items for the money you spent on the tools).
Harvesting in West Sarutabaruta – most of the time, market depending, this is the fastest way I currently have of making money. Red Moko Grass, Saruta Cotton, Fresh Mugwort (very rare) and Grain Seeds are your biggest money. Some of the other things you get do sometimes sell well at the AH but it’s more variable whereas those four sell well and pretty consistently. Consider looking up some recipies and gardening with the seeds you get (check out Tarutaru rice in particular). Having some clothcraft skill can sometimes help you get a little more money for your work than selling everything raw but not always and the profits are nice even with no crafting skill. It’s worth keeping some of the items you get and npcing them (skull locust goes for 99-100 gil each). The only problem with harvesting is that sometimes the market gets glutted so make sure you have a back up way to make money when this happens. I was a bit deperate for money so I harvested for about 6 hours yesterday. I took about 12k worth of sickles with me and came back with 130k+ worth of items (most of which have now sold) and 10 grain seeds which I am growing into rice so whatever profits I get from there are ontop of that 130k (I am expecting 30-60k, gardening can be a bit hit and miss).
Mining in Zehrun Mines – I can’t recommend this as strongly for four reasons. First, you need to level your smithing (min 10) and goldsmithing (min 9) to get the most out of it. Second, for some unknown reason, pickaxes (the tools you use for mining) break a hell of a lot more than any other HELM tool do and they are more expensive so you need to invest more before you see your return. Three and four, you need a lot of fire crystals (which are relatively expensive) and inventory space (fewer trips back to town helps a lot and the gobbiebag quests aren’t cheap). That being said, you can make a lot of money mining, even in Zehrun. Once you get to the point of being able to make Brass Ingots/sheets and Iron Ingots you are home free especially given how fast these all sell. Final tip on this, don’t try and mine up the copper for your initial bit of levelling goldsmithing because the ores are very cheap from the guild shop and you will be there forever (I was so mad when I realised how much time I had wasted being stupid on that one). Keep snapping moles, they npc for nearly 400gil each.
I am sure you can make a lot of money farming and as a blu you might not have the problems farming that I have (whm and blm only) but anything other than elementals was just depressing in terms of kill speed and drop rate. I haven’t found anything yet to farm that matches HELM gil/hour. I only really started farming elementals in Pashhow to see if I could while I was there trying leeches, then decided that 2k a piece water clusters were good for filling in and gaps in my or my mules Ahs.
Sorry for the length but hopefully that will have given you a couple of things to try out at least. I did the silk thread and beehive chips thing, tried a couple of different areas for crawlers and bees, the bees in Giddeus (which also allows you to have a swipe at Hoo if you can get claim on him) had the best drop rate. My friend keeps telling me that making money gets a lot easier as you level up so don’t worry it apparently gets better than this. ^ ^sigpic
