    Re: New Player

I've played two years and I've solo the whole time. I play everyday but only about 2 hours as RL is very busy. I'm an older player but I enjoy everything about the game. I can't sit still so I solo and you can have fun, it's like constant farming.
I've solo beast to 50, that was easy. I sol WAR to 36, BLU 28, PAL 27, RED 27 and now playing THF 25. Just find what you like and go for it. Since I solo, I get tons of items so I took up every craft and took cooking to 100. The secret to solo- check every mob before you engage( bunnies can kill !) and stay close to a zone and know when to run. Make sure you unlock keyboard during fights and scan 360 to avoid agro. Don't fight anything EM that can sleep you and use food and drinks always to keep the advantage on your side. Have fun...

I always felt that the most unique and fun part about FFXI was the fact you could change jobs on the fly and do anything on a single character, that way it wasn't like having to start over again and again.

Keep in mind this is just a thought, but wouldn't want you to find yourself getting bored :p
      Intersting...

The types of characters I do like are high damage dealers and magic casters. I made an Elvaan character, and for magic I made a tarutaru character.

In the big picture, does race really matter for what I want? I have been reading different websites, and they all say different things. Some say race doesn't matter, others say Elvaan make poor casters, and tarutaru's make poor melee characters.

Would it be better for me to be a hume and go the damage and magic routes and keep it on a single character?

Don't believe the hype, the difference in race is minute and has no noticable difference other than compensating for extreems with gear selection. Race should be picked by what you want to spend hours looking at, not on base stats. Skill and gear trumps all

          ahh thank you

Now do I want to spend hours looking at a chick, or at a tarutaru? Decisions decisions!!

            Re: New Player

My first toon I did Mithra, but got tired of people hitting on me, so I went for Elvaan and turned my mithra in to a Jeuno mule, I am ver y pleased with Elvaan, Taru will make it easier on the Magic side, but once higher you will have to be dilligent on gear since they are squishy

              Re: New Player

I've decided to stick with my tarutaru

If you on Ifrit, look out for a little tarutaru named Diablito (little Diablo).

hmm.... that last post was wierd, I didn't even post a URL...

Anywayz, I send you a friend request. I thought it was odd that I had to go through the PlayOnline interface and couldn't do it in-game. Oh well. I guess coming from WoW I'll have many things to get used too.

I would like to say that I do like playing on my Xbox 360. It actually feels like a new type of experience, especially after being cooped up at my PC desk for MMO's for years. I really like controlling my character using a controller. It feels more ergonomic and since it is wireless it allows me to sprawl out on a couch or chair. The only problem right now is the length of my USB keyboard cord. However, once the thumb-board add-on for the 360 controller comes out, I'll be set for comfort!!! muahahahaha....
