  • Macro -ing equipment and remaining lockon

I cant seem to lock on my target.
What Im trying to do is:

    /equip "gear2" ring1
    /ja "Jobability" <me>
    /wait 1
    /equip "gear1" ring1
    ---what comes after this?

    I think it's just

    /lockon

but that's a toggle so if you already happen to be locked on, it'll release the lock.

      /lockon on

EDIT: I think I'm wrong here, could be just /lockon. Why don't they have a /lock on and /lock off, baffles me.

        /assist "Tank's name" always works.

I tried /lockon but that didnt work.
I'll see if /lockon on works later.

I think I could be wrong as well.
I had a macro ones for using <bt> *shudder* but a lot of people don't like bt because it would give them the wrong target a lot of the times. (thank you SE for the awesomeness of your programming )

Too bad there isn't a /assist <pld> or one for multiple /assist <nin><pld> so it will cycle through the different paladin's in the party or ninja's first then paladins.

you still need to target something first, before you type in /lockon . That maybe why it's not working.

            /target <bt>
            /lockon

That "should" work guaranteed. However as stated before, becareful with <bt>.

Are you not already targeting something by the time lockon is used? If not,

              /lockon <stnpc>

That gives you the blue sub-target arrow.

Edit: I just tested <stnpc> in-game and it won't work. You need to already have a target before /lockon. Also, /lockon won't use the arguments "on" and "off" for some odd reason so it will just toggle it.

So do what Omniblast suggested. Although, I recommend <stnpc>.

              /target <stnpc>
              /lockon

Re: Macro -ing equipment and remaining lockon

When I 1st saw this thread, I thought that it had to do with the problem of loosing a lock because the target was changing items.

I had a party in Bibiki where a DRK would change equipment so often that most of the time we ended up casting cures on ourselves!

Other than that, I have always had problems in situations where I was meeleeing & curing at the same time, so the party text would be "Achaicus casts Cure II on the Goblin Assassin" (or something like that).

Though not exactly what the OP is about, any ideas on these things?

                Thx in advance,

I think it's a timing issue. I found out that after gear changes, I'd have to wait a second or two before it works. I added a /wait 1 before /lockon and it was fine.

I can't remember the exact command, but for Dynamis we use a command that targets a particular Alliance member's mob. It looks similar to this exampe.

                    /** "Solymir"

As I said I don't remember the command, and I'm unfortunately at work, so I can't login and look it up. If you wish I can post what it is when I get home tonight.

                      /as "Solymir"
                      Short for /assist

or you can just call them /ass :p (BTW that doesn't work)

you can also /assist a monster to determine who it's currently targeting. we use this sometimes in our dynamis runs and other events to quickly determine which tank currently has hate when a long spell starts.

                          Yes! Thank you.

This works great in dynamis for the Melee Alliance. We create 2 macros, 1 for Main Assist, and another for Secondary Assist. I would think this would work for a party as well, though you would have to update the macro for your current Tank's name.

Personally I use a PS2 "like" controller on the PC and my Right top trigger button is programmed for this function. The OP wanted a line for a macro.
