shutdown/logout function

Sometimes, while useing the Shutdown command (ps2) to exit FFXI, it just logs me out, dose this happen to anyone else or is it just my system?

I use both features quite often, and the only issue is when I forget what I'm doing.

I wanna mule hop and end up typing /shutdown and wonder why the PS2 turned off. Or other times I wanted to /shutdown but typed /logout instead, so I then have to make a decision. Log back in and type /shutdown which is "less work." Or keep backing out and shutting down that way.

But when I type out the correct command it does it's job, at least in my experience. Are you typing the command, or using the buttons in the menu?

It happens. My POL on PC does the same thing sometimes.

Same thing happens to me, I -always- hit shutdown from the menu, and it every, say 5 or so times out of 10, it takes me back to POL.

Yeah, happens to me too. I will /shutdown and it will just go to POL instead of a complete shutdown.

I get it too, but I think it happens to me if I type something else after I type /shutdown. Like if I go /shutdown and then start chatting to my LS or something.

Ha. I always wondered why that happened to me too. Took me some time to notice the issue though, as I always just assumed that I typed /logout accidentally while thinking that I had typed /shutdown.

I always use the meun, never had a problem, except sometimes it would leave POL open for 10 seconds or so before closing it if I close Shutdown

Happens to me too, on PS2. It didn't start happening until about a week ago. At first I assumed that I typed /logout on accident, but then it happened again. Lately, it seems about 1/3 of the time it works correctly.

I've had this happen to me randomly (occasionly) ever since SE implimented the command. Seems to be a bug in the command line or something. I, being truly lazy with this, put it in a macro, so I know I'm using the correct syntax and everything, so it's an error with the system.

Happens to me on both Xbox and PC. Seems completly random, whether I'm chatting in LS or not. Most times if I use the command in my Mog House it will work correctly, but not always.

I use the menu and sometime type in the command. But there doesn't seem to be any correlation between them.

Yeah, happens to me, too, but not as frequently as some people here...maybe 2 times out of 10. I never use the menu, though, I always /shutdown. It's a little annoying, since /shutdown usually takes like 3 seconds to exit the game, whereas going back through POL to logout takes a few minutes.

Occasionally, if I'm in a hurry to leave for work or something, if the /shutdown just logs me out, I just close the POL window manually rather than backing out through all the menus. Of course, it says data may be lost doing that, but I've yet to have a problem.

Out of curiosity, has anyone that has manually D/C from FFXI or POL ever really lost anything? Just wondering...

I haven't, on the rare occasion I've wanted/needed to Ghetto Log, but I'm certainly not going to be the one to experiment with it to find out.
