  • saving map markers

    Greetinigs,

I play FFXI on my PC, and I know its possible to save the specific file for macros, so that if you reformat your PC you can just copy the file back over.

Is there a similar file related to all the map markers? Ive been meaning to give my computer a fresh install, but I hate to lose all those markers (some very useful, some sentimental). Anyone know if this is possible and where the file might be? Thanks.

I'm guessing it would also be in the same user folder as your macro file.

      Re: saving map markers

They are... You can also use the semi-useless internal feature which can be found by pressing CTRL-ALT-SHIFT-"S" at the Character Select screen I believe. C-A-S-"R" restores them, but it doesn't actually "back up" anything.

In order to truly back-up your settings (map markers, macros, chat colors and filter settings, etc.), find this directory:

      C:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\Final Fantasy XII\USER

Save this directory to whatever item you want to back-up to. Restore it on any computer and log in. The folders underneath the directory are specific to your character and you will have the same settings/maps/macros on the second PC as the first. You can also back it up to offline storage in case your computer dies. If you are using PS2/PS3/XBOX, I think you're out of luck, but perhaps someone who actually plays on the aforementioned platform knows a way...
