I just got a new laptop and installed ffxi and what not, is there any way I can move all my macros from my PC to my laptop? Like copy a file and move it or something? I really don't want to have to sort it all out again ~.~

Re: Move Macros?
Yeah, the macros are in FFXI's character data.
Assuming a default install, the base directory is C:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\USER
If you're just moving everything, you can copy this whole directory from one machine to another. The subfolders contain data for each of your characters.
Another folder you might want to copy from is
C:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\PlayOnlineViewer\pub\home01, this contains the POL Viewer settings, screenshots, etc. for the first POL account configured. (home02 for the next, etc.)

Re: Move Macros?
Easiest way is to delete every folder (back up first) then log in with 1 character. This will create a default macro set for you in a new folder, which will be named exactly like the old one. There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot,

Re: Move Macros?
I think SE did this on purpose--they don't intend for you to go searching around in their directory for anything, so everything is obfuscated. If they were nice, they would've just stored the macros in plain text so that you could edit them outside the game and the screenshots would be stored in an appropriate folder for your convenience. Since they're not nice, that means that either (a) it is intended that you go through the interface or (b) it has something to do with the machinations of PS2 programming.
I'm thinking the latter (PS2 programming) is much more likely.

Re: Move Macros?
I'd further point out that not everyone has characters only on one server. I had my third and later sixth character on Remora while most of my characters are on Midgardsormr. I no longer have a Remora character, but the point is that Character names are only unique across a particular server.
My guess is that the directories are named based on a unique identifier assigned at character creation time, possibly also used by the lobby server to look up your character info. Certainly not the only approach that could be taken, but a reasonable one.Kumei, pickpocket of Midgardsormr(Bastok Rank 10)

Re: Move Macros?
If you ever need to reformat your pc or reinstall FFXI, there is a way to back up markers and macros to the FF servers if you have nowhere else to back them up to.
On the character select screen, highlight the character data you wish to back up and hit ctrl-alt-shift-B. Once everything is restored and you wish to reload the data, go to the same screen and hit ctrl-alt-shift-R.
This is handy to do sometimes in case you mess up your macros in game and want to revert to old ones.
I'm pretty sure that it will not work from one pc to another though.
