Well I saved up my little noobie money and bought him a Gold Pass.
But unfortunately he didn't know what to do with the number and neither did I, but as luck would have it, his character was made on remora with mine on the first try.

Have him delete and recreate his character to use the pass and get the benefit then, since he hasn't played it long enough to have anything to lose. Where you type in the world pass is a pretty obvious step in character creation, where it asks you to type in the world you want to land on, and then demands a password if you type in anything rather than leaving it blank.

No need for us to bother. We dont need the hats because were gonna be the same level. Wel...l Im gonna be higher level since i play on my own alot more, but the beauty is I can switch to what Im going to use as a sub job, when I do my leveling with him (not like he's going to be around in 40 days anyways). Also no sense in him having the chocobo passes if I cant ride with him.

Out of curiosity what are the 100 and 365 day rewards ?

when you make your character their is a space that says somthing like "world pass number" or somthing like that and you put it in their. But yeah thats good that you got in at the first try, I will probly get on their too, as people have said its probly the 1 server that has less then any other one...so as luck would have it, it would turn out that way.

The full list is on the official web site, on the page about Gold World Passes. The short version is this: the person buying the pass gets the choice of furniture that is only available through the Gold World Pass program, or Normal Quality and +1 versions of event items, while the person using the pass can't get the furniture or +1 items. You get one choice for each mark for every Gold World Pass you have purchased, and the Guide and Sprout Berets can be used with anyone else who has the other in the set, so it's more useful to have one even if you aren't using it with your friend.

The friend who used a pass I bought so we could get Sprout and Guide Berets became homeless and was forced to quit the game, but I can still use my Guide Beret with anyone else who has a Sprout Beret, so it leads to some additional party invites. Also, if you play when your friend doesn't the cap is still useful because it will allow him to cap any of your jobs to his current level, which is good if he needs a different job at the time than the one you do have at his level. The Berets will grant you a lot more flexibility than not having used the pass.
