Free Trial ?

Is there a free trial available I can sign up for ?

I tried this game out at release, but only stuck with it for a week before moving on to another mmo. But alas, I can't seem to pull up any of my former account info (on top of that, seems accounts get deleted after 3 months of activity anyhow)

Anyways, FF XII has really resparked my intrest into giving FF XI another shot, but I dont wan't to go drop down another $30-$40 on a game that I may or may not stick with.

Buy the game for 30 bucks and you get a month free. That's as "free trial" as it gets my friend.

no. only thing kinda like it is a buddy pass (request one in the sticky thread in general discussions) which lets you play the base game (no expansions) for 30 days.

well looks like im gonna go drop down $30 for the darn thing, and hook my cousin up with the buddy pass.

All of the servers are pretty much the same. You'll be placed randomly on a low-volume server regardless, but if you do want to join a specific one you can make a request in that server's World Pass Request Thread.

When my cousin and I first started, we had a heck of a time tryin to get on the same server. He created his character on shiva, and I had to keep making and deleting untill I finally got on to shiva. Well, it wasn't that bad, it only took me a few tries, but still....

Hopefully we wont be forced to go through that when he gets on with the buddy pass I gave him (but I imagine he will, because I don't think the buddypass is linked to me or w/e) So im gonna have to either A) Kill lots and lots of noobish things for silk or w/e to sell at the AH or B) W#@e myself out to someone to get the gilll to buy a world pass for him, because I KNOW he won't be to happy about remaking chars to get on the same server as me.

With prices as they are these days, getting the gil for a WP takes little to no time at all. Shouldn't be a problem.

Or if you want to request a WP you can get one with multiple uses and you and your friend can both join the same server.

One stack of crystals should get you the gil to buy a world pass. If you buy him a Gold World Pass then you don't even have to worry about how far apart in levels you are, since the item after 40 days will let him cap you to his level.

wait wait wait, let me get this straight, if I get a goldpass (or someone gets me a goldpass) after 40 days the player who joined with the gold pass becomes the same level as the person who got the player a gold pass ?

No. But you'll get a special hat that will allow you to cap your level to match his.

Not that you'll likely be more than a few levels apart anyway.

awww, and Here I was thinking I could luck out and effortlessly hit 75 if I sucked one of you vet's into getting me a gold pass

And the point of the buddy pass and gold world pass are to recruit people to the game in the hopes that they'll keep playing. The Buddy Pass one of my friends used two months ago still seems to work, it's just now that he pays a monthly fee and only has access to the game without expansions until he buys a Vanadiel Collection box to add them to his account.

I didn't deny that. I just pointed out that you'd have to make a retail purchase of the game to reap the benefits of a Gold WP.

Well I saved up my little noobie money and bought him a Gold Pass.
But unfortunately he didn't know what to do with the number and neither did I, but as luck would have it, his character was made on remora with mine on the first try.
