Other players in fields?

This is probably an EXTREMELY silly question, but I will ask it anyway, just because I'm paranoid.


Ever since I've bought Guild Wars and found out you cannot see other players in Fields unless you're in their party, I have been paranoid about every other MMORPG I attempt to play in fear that it is the same way.

To top it off, I hear so many comments about parties on FFXI, that the thought passed my mind. Please tell me it's not the same as Guild Wars, and that you CAN see other players everywhere.

Yes, you can see other people where ever you are (apart from in your mog house).

Thank God. Sorry for the silly question though, guys. Guild Wars has just disturbed me for the rest of my life.

Guild Wars is well...more of an Offline RPG with some online features...and they aren't as advanced as say Everquest or FFXI. In most MMOs the other players are alll visible....

Wow, and to think, I almost took the time to download and attempt to crack the game to play it. Glad I didn't waste the brain power (or the bandwidth).

Kind of funny, I was like that a little bit at first with guild wars, and I couldn't understand why.

I hate crowded zones witha passion, nothing like looking high and low for a mob, finally findingh it... then ZOOM, another player swipes in and takes it.
Or those over camped bosses and such.

But having everything completely instanced (except for the cities) can be rather lonely. It also kind of stinks not be able to just go out and watch how other players handle combat and learn from what they do.

You might end up liking Guild Wars' instanced-everything-except-towns after competing a few times with your fellow players for some drops.

There are 2 kinds of MMORPG, the immersive world MMORPG, and the instanced world MMORPG. Think of FFXI, UO, EQ, WoW, Lineage, SWG, as immervise world MMORPG, Diablo and Guild Wars are the instanced world MMORPGs of the lot in this case, you form your team, and go on a mission that happens on an instanced place of the world and you cant interact with people that arent on your team.

Guild wars is fun and thats all that matters though, its for the more casual player who just wants some fast paced action involving teamplay.

All different styles x.x I hated PSU(Phantasy Star Online) I downloaded the demo for it on Xbox. I personally only like the real big MMORPG, FFXI and WoW, theyre most stable and trustworthy to play on.
