Subjobs

I only got the game a few days ago, so I don't really have a clue what i'm doing at the moment, I have read alot of guides. But i was wondering about the subjobs, warrior is my main, i want white mage as my subjob, how exactly do i go about getting it?

To obtain the ability to use a subjob, you must first reach level 18 in any job and complete one of two quests in either Selbina or Mhaura. After that, you can use any of your unlocked jobs as a subjob, and you can change them at any time in your mog house.

As an aside, unless you're soloing, White Mage isn't a particularly useful subjob for Warrior. For a starting player, Monk is your best bet. Later on other options like Thief and Ninja become viable, but you can cross that bridge when you get to it.^^

I have played alot of MMORG in the past, so i was thinking of just getting straight to soloing. but i guess monk could be a good choice. Hand to hand combat right?

Yes. At least while using it as your main. When using it as a subjob it's really just there to compliment your main job.

FFXI isn't a very solo friendly game. With the exception of a handful of jobs, most jobs spend the majority of their time in the game partying for exp.

Check the WAR forum, at the top of the forum in a stickied post should be
"Party vs All Other Sub Discussion".
You will find extensive discussion / opinion about what is a good sub and when.

FFXI is not like other MMORPGS with regard to solo-ing. Whilst it is possible it is, in general, slow for all but a few job. Having said that everything in FFXI is "slow" when compared to other MMORPGs.
