game controls

hello.

i just started up the game an hour ago, but i'm having a hard time getting used to the controls.

is there some way to customize them?

open the menu, config, misc 2 and set the keyboard to compact for WASD movement. or just refer to your quick reference card

I'de suggest getting a xbox360 controller. I bought one today and its a god send from the mouse and keyboard. FFXI is the only mmo i would ever use a controller on.

Huh...? I do not have a "misc 2" in my config. window just Misc. Are you refering to the menu that is in "C:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\ToolsUS\FINAL FANTASY XI Config.exe"? Or are you talking about some ingame menu that can be opened wile in the game?

I to would love to remap the keys. I'm left handed and the way it is now makes the game unplayable for me.

NT is referrring to the ingame Config menu, yes. Keyboard changes are made from inside rather than outside the game (although there may very well be a way to do it from outside that I just don't know about).

YUCK! I tried to play Halo 2 on an xbox and HATED the xbox controlers!

Cool, thanks a million. I will give that a look see. For a wile it looked like there was no way to configure the keyboard. I was really starting to get pi$$ed off!
