Re: if i understand this correct
You level each job separately. When you reach level 5 Warrior, for example, you are still a level 1 Monk, Thief, Red Mage, White Mage, and Black Mage, until you switch to one of those jobs and level it. When you switch back to Warrior, it will still be level 5.
You lose access to those abilities, but you don't lose them permanently or anything. The only skills that carry over among jobs when you switch are melee and magic skills (Sword, Evasion, Healing Magic, etc.), but you only have access to the ones your main and support job have access to.
The only way you ever permanently lose abilities/spells/skills is if you die enough with the job in question as your main job to make you delevel below the minimum to use that ability/spell/skill.Ellipses on Fenrir
There is no rush. If you're not willing to take your time, don't be surprised when no one wants to give you much of theirs.

Re: if i understand this correct
well yes and no :p
all yoiur jobs start at level 1 and you only have access to the main 6 WAR THF MNK RED BLM WHM
when you change your job to another one in your moghouse, it will be what ever level you left it at last time, wether it be level 1 or 50
Take me for example....
WAR THF MNK SAM DRK RDM BLM WHM BLU are all level 37, so if I change to any of these I will be level 37, but my DRG is 65, so when I change to it, I will be level 65.
All your jobs will stay what ever level they are when you chage, so dont worry about jobs resetting them selves :p-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Re: if i understand this correct
All jobs start off at level 1.
If you level a job, say Warrior, to 10, then decide to level Monk, you switch jobs at your mog house and you become a level 1 Monk. You can then go out, level Monk to 5 (for example) come back to your mog house and change job back to Warrior which will still be at level 10.
Abilities, per say, are exclusive to each job, every job has its own abilities and traits that are only active when you are that job.
Once you acquire the ability to add a subjob, the abilities of the subjob will remain, as long as your subjob level is at the requisite level to use said abilities.
Example:
As above you have levelled Warrior to 10, and Monk to 5 - Warrior has Provoke at level 5, Monk has Boost at level 5. If you were to sub Monk to Warrior (WAR/MNK) you would have both Provoke and Boost because your main and subjobs are levelled enough to let you use both sets of abilities.
Note that Two Hour abilities for your subjob will not be available.
Im not sure what exactly you mean, but hopefully the above makes some sense.
Edit - Bah - beaten to it.
