Odd billing question...

If I install the game today, and immediately "stop billing" on the account, to keep from being charged on the 1st, do I still get to play my free 30 days?

-- I ask, because i'm in the process of buying an account, but really want to try the game, so i wanted to know if i could start now, cancel billing, play my 30 days, and then when/if I'm suckered into the game, pick up the billing at a later date.

He doesnt mean that. If he was buying an account he wouldnt have the 30 free days. Think about it

I very much doubt that would work. The thirty days starts when you activate the account. I wouldn't count on SE having anything in place to "pause" it or anything.

He's probably using SE's terminology of "buying a content ID"

yes, but I'd give it a week to cancel it instead of immediately. however, you must cancel your account by the end of the month or else they will bill you for the remainder of your 30 trial.

For example, you start today. This gives you until July 23 free. However, SE bills on monthly cycles not 30 day. This means come July 1 they will start charging you for July's fees. But since you get until the 23 free they will only bill you the balance of July 24-31. This fee, they will collect on July 1st. So before June 30, cancel your content id. You will still get to play until July 23.

Yes, I'm not going to purchase someone elses account, as that would be robbing myself and my wife of the playing experience, I meant, that I'm setting up a new account.
