    Spell Graphics Issue - please help

    Ok i've tried many things on my comp to resolve this little issue of mine, but have found no solutions. I've called SE three times trying to figure it out and i've tried many drivers for my Nvidia geforce 420 MX card (64mb). I quit ffxi about a year and a half ago and just now came back. The graphics of the models/world/avatars are just fine. 5 minutes or so from when i log into the game and/or zone my spell casting graphics work (whm bubbles).. then after a few minutes the bubbles no longer show when i cast and the only way to see it is if i rotate the camera to a certain angle. also when this happens let's say, i cast cure.. i get no bubbles showing that im casting the spell but i do get the purple mist after its casted(only the mist, no sparkles) same with cure 2, only the mist and not the spiral rings. This is one of those problems where i feel im the only one having this kind of problem lol. If anyone can share any information with me about how to resolve this, please DO TELL =O)

    The game will cut back on some things (graphical effects, etc.) when it needs room to display other things (character models, etc.). You might check your effects filtering just to make sure: Menu > Config > Effects. But mostly I suspect it's just your graphics card. "MX" is nvidia-speak for "underperforming," and the 400 line is one of the biggest examples of it.

      yeah i tried the effects in the game... i have all effects during battle turned on and also all the You > ones. messed with them many times and still the same problem... i really hate to buy another vid card bc this one worked properly awhile back when i played, but thank you for posting. If anyone else has any ideas feel free to toss them my way

        I'm not sure if this'll do the trick, but go to the Nvidia website and download the latest drivers for your graphics card.

        It worked for me when the sky was flashing red, orange, white, blue, green like crazy on WoW (though I couldn't stand to play it for much more than 3 months anyhow).

          My anti-nVidia sentiments aside, the 4-anything series of nVidia cards are highly hit-or-miss with FFXI. Some work, some don't, and what works for one person won't work for another. The only real solution is to use anything newer than 4-whatever nVidia cards.

          And since I can't say anything without talking smack about nVidia, I suggest ATI Radeon series. Its much better. <.<

            think im gonna go purchase a nice ATI Radeon, seems to be a favorite for some of my friends... i'd rather invest 200+ dollars on something that will work rather than deal with this annoying problem =p
