Hi there. I bought FFXI a long time ago (around when it came out), played for a while and then stopped and uninstalled it. I want to play again. I have the 4 install discs and the manual with the registration codes. But, when I try to install, it tells me that I need to install PlayOnline. I can't remember how I installed Playonline. Did it come on another disc? If I don't have that other disc, what should I do?

It comes on another disc got to have it to install the others and to log in. If you don't have it maby you could barow it from somebody you don't need keys to install it just to regster the game.

PC CD version of FFXI came with 5 CDs. One for POL Viewer, three for FFXI, and one for the Zilart expansion. FFXI can't run just by itself. It need POL for you to register account formation, and then to verify that account and log in so it can kick to FFXI. Ya, most likey. Every where I have been only carry the set of discs. Hopefully you know somebody who has a disc or else you must buy a new one. I think it is only $20.00 USD, and it also comes with two expansions. So it would not even be that bad to buy it in the first place. You might be able to get it off ebay, but I doubt it...Comment

Or be resourceful in aquiring the disc some other way without breaking the rules here... Say, borrowing the disc from a firned with it and making an image or burning a copy? Well, I sucked it up and bought another copy. (And a long overdue DVD/CD-RW drive!) Oh well, at least with this I get Chains of Promathia and another free month. I've got it installed and all seems to be running fine. I don't think I'll be able to get that old character of mine. But that's alright, I've been away so long I might as well begin again.
